Post A question to you all.... (warning is about politics)
In my grade 12 politics class, I have been requested to survey a sample of people their opinion on a issue in politics.

According to the Foreign Affairs and International Trades Canada website, NAFTA was an agreement signed by Canada, the U.S.A. and Mexico in 1994 to create a free trade zone between all three countries.

a) do we keep NAFTA y/n
b) Why do you think we should, or should not keep NAFTA?

Please keep your answer serious, this is merely a survey about the people's opinion.

NAFTA is bad it gives taxes breaks to companies that operate in the other 2 countries and make domestic production be under a higher tax than imported products thus causing companies to shut down operations in the states and moving them outside the country. look at the tyson chicken company after NAFTA was passed they shut down numerous processing companies around 25K jobs and moved the operations to Mexico and there are other comapnies that followed suit. same shit is happening with walmart and china there are bills that pass thru our government that specifically gives walmart certain tax advatages for importing from china.

If we are to keep NAFTA we need policies which offer incentives to corporations to keep their businesses in the states.

Seeing as we've created a world economy where other countries will, or have in the case of China, achieve a level of competition with us it's important that we try to keep the workforce of big companies in this country.

The only thing I can think of is to offer tax incentives for companies based on the number of American workers they employ. I don't know what percentages would work but I'm sure something could be worked out based on some sort of ratio between assets and number of employees. Also, so they don't employ 100,000 janitors to get a tax incentive the incentive would take into consideration different paygrades with a limit ratio per paygrade.

I'm not really sure what else would work. It was a totally foreseeable consequence of our economy and the world, it's just that this country refuses to accept the idea of preventive measures.

So do you agree or disagree with NAFTA then? A lot of Canadians up here have pretty strong views on it....

What are the Canadien views? America doesn't talk about Canada unless we're drunk and start talking about invading and changing your name to Canadia.

I didn't vote in your poll. I'll only agree to NAFTA if certain provisions are put into place to guarantee that jobs will stay in America.

The downside to being #1 in a capitalistic world economy is that as the rest of the world catches up to you the other countries look very attractive to corporations whose only concern is the bottom line.

A lot of Canadians think NAFTA is a hazard to the Canadian trade sector, along with the agreement seeming to be more in favor of US competition, rather than Canadian businesses. We also seem to think Mexico benefits the most from the agreement.

I keep forgetting why we don't annex Mexico, someone please remind me. It seems like that would be the best solution for everyone.

I would just like to point out to all the Americans in this thread that America stopped existing in 1871.
