 creation or evolution?
i always find arguing with people about philosophy and religion interesting, so i decided to try here where i know the greater percentage is more leanant towards one side. so, i'm asking, creation or evolution?
to start off the debate, try taking in this quote: "What was there before the universe? When does time really start?".

Creationism.
I believe in it because, well, for one, evolutionism says that we all came from a speck of dust.
Also, scientists date fossils by what rocks they are in. Yet they date the rocks by the fossils that are inside of them. This is circular reasoning, and makes no sense at all.
I go to church every Sunday, and in Sunday school or whatever we have been watching a series of movies that totally annihilate any thought that evolution could ever exist.
Another one is -- The Bible clearly describes creationism, along with a world wide flood. MANY other cultures also believe both of these. Nearly 300 legends are known.
Another? There is a .5 inch layer of cosmic of dust on the moon. This proves that it has not been accumulating dust for billions of years.
Also, the oceans are continually getting saltier. If they were 'billions of years old' they would be MUCH saltier than they are now.
Last one for right now -- the current human population (5.5 billion) could easily be generated from 8 people (survivors of the flood) in less than 4,000 years.
I have more, I just want to see a response from somebody.

Evolution says we all EVOLVED from micro-organisms in the oceans. Not that we came out of nothing. There are debates saying we may have come from elsewhere in the universe too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but creationism says god made us as we are today. If this is true, then it would had to have been a large number of us created at one time. If you don't understand that then I'll explain it later. Murder! wrote: Also, Scientists date fossils by what rocks they are in. They date the rocks by the fossils that are inside of them. They don't date rocks by the fossils in them. http://wrgis.wr.usgs.gov/parks/gtime/radiom.htmlI'm not even going to comment on the sunday school thing. Just because a moral or teaching or subject is widely known doesn't mean that the story behind it is proven fact. It's human nature to create story's with good lessons in them in order to teach younger generations that there are fundamental ethics in life that must be followed in order for the race to survive. The only reason we have these teachings and unintelligent creatures don't is because they rely on instinct and not conscious thought. There are many religions that claim there is only one god, but how do you explain buddhism or hindu or shinto? Those religions are practically the entire Eastern Asia region. The only reason christianity spread was because the Romans adopted it. Murder! wrote: Another? There is a .05 inch layer of cosmic of dust on the moon. It's not like cosmic dust is raining down on things like water to the earth. Planets don't get like 5 inches a year of cosmic dust or anything. The only way that would ever be possible is if it occured in a nebula or if dust was gathered by a sun or black hole (examples: Black Hole = Galaxies, Stars = Planets, Nebulas = Stars).
I only came back to edit one word that's now in bold.

and dont believe the bible it also says that you should sacrafice your first born child for your "god"

If you don't understand that then I'll explain it later. well, at least one theory of evolution states that we all came from micro-organisms. but can you truely believe that by chance, say whatever theory you want, these (what they are called) micro million million million million (1 with twenty-four zero's) landed on earth and evolved to what we have today, or what we consider civilization? you can't convince me of it, nor can you convince some of the greatest theoretical physicists of the past 100 years (stephen hawking, albert einstein, etc.) Pyrokid wrote: Just because a moral or teaching or subject is widely known doesn't mean that the story behind it is proven fact. like you said, "the story behind it isn't proven fact". this is very true, because religion is based on belief, whether it be monotheistic or not, it's entirely a belief system, even science is based on belief. despite what we say, whether we evolved from "micro micro organisms" in the sea, what was there before the universe? when does time truely start, and if you say at the start of the universe, at what point do you consider civilization actually dawning the start of man? well i don't really agree with this statement by murder either, since by a common law of physics no ones to say that comic dust falls 3 inches at a time (like pyro said).

All I'm going to say is that evolution on some level is pretty much undeniable if you look at all the evidence. However, that doesn't disprove the idea of creationism being true, with minor evolution occuring since then.

I hate the thought of organized religion. I do not believe we were placed here as we are, and no evolution occured. That is retarded. Hello people who think the bible is all knowing, dinosaurs did exist. Where the hell does that come into play? I think creationism did happen, but we evolved no doubt. I don't see how we could have all came from one organism, because all of our gene structures from other animals are so different it seems almost impossible that everything evolved from one organism.

That's the old testament. Not the new. There's a new one because the old one is wrong. Now, I don't believe the scripture in The Bible either.
I don't believe in religion. I think it's better to have ideas over beliefs. I also have the idea that it we shouldn't really look too much into it now. Just live our lives, and if we're lucky, we'll find out in the end. If we don't, then well, whatever. I'm pretty agnostic.
