Need Grade 10 Math Help.. ASAP!
That's the practice sheet for my math ISU, I, along with all of my classmates, have no clue how to do it.
Yes, the answers are there, no, this is not compulsory.
I just want to know how to do it so I don't fail the test worth 20% of my final. ._.
If anybody knows how to do it, please, POST!

Well, I know how to do it, but I can't explain it. Just read the questions very carefully, and answer the questions, and do just that.

The thing that is really bumming me, is, I can do questions like these in my head. I solve it and get (x,y)=(30,20) in my head.
But, I don't see the point of having the graph, the table, or any of the other shit in the picture. :\

I tried that on the test which I wrote last week.. and I got 80% on the test... But 1/4 on the question involving this type of equations.
-.-
I'm aiming for 100% on the ISU.. I only have 70% in Math right now. :(

Judi, it's one big question, but you see that little > sign at the end of the equations?
That means that x + y must be equal too or less than that number. Having the less than option means there are multiple possibilities, so you have to show the margin of possibilities.
I know how to get the final answer in like two minutes, but I don't know how to do all the graphing and other stuff.
BTW the way to get the answer:
Make the variables in the two equations like-terms then...:
___(x +/- y = #)
-/+(x +/- y = #)
x/0x +/- y/0y = #
^_^?

I understand the concept of "less than or equal to". I was wondering which of the 7 problems on that worksheet you cannot do. To graph an inequality, solve for y, replace the less-than-or-equal-to sign with an equal sign, and graph that linear function. Then shade in the area below (if y > mx+b) or above (if y < mx+b).

the way to work it:
profit of bike x + profit of bike y
50x + 35y
************
solve for y
2x + 3/2y < 90
y < -4/3x + 60
************
graph this on graph paper.
use about 1block=5units for the y-axis
then use like 1, 2, 3, etc... for x.
just plug the x values into the equation
because the graph is less than (<) you need to shade all the numbers under the line. don't shade any negative numbers because it tells you not to and you can't have a negative amount of bicycles. returd
************
solve for y
1/2x + 1/4y < 20
y = -2x + 80
************
graph this using the same type of graph in the first part
************
I guess the corners mean the edges of the graph (rather useless, but so it calculus and most other forms of math)
************
since you already have the equations with 1y in them, just place them over eachother and subtract. you have to solve this because I'm just too damn lazy. This gives you a value for x
then plug x into the equation and solve for y
this gives you your (x,y) intersection point
************
Use the 4 corners of the graph (they aren't corners, but obviously the highest profit is where the lines intersect.
What they did in the chart is they have the point of the corners, such as (0,60) this is the same as (x,y). since you have the x and the y, you can plug those into the equation for profit. 50(0) + 35(60) = sdfag
do this for the other 3 "corners" and you have your chart.
************
Conclusion:
the intersection at (30,20) has the highest profit of $22,000
DEE DEE DURRR

Yea. I can't do 1,3,4,5. I can do 2 and 6 in my head, and frankly, that's all that F*CKING matters. The answer!
@ kicked:
The "corners" they are refering to are the possible intersections of the two lines, and yes, the most valuable corner is 30,20, worth $2200 a week.
Thanks for all the posts, guys, useful or not. I finished it and hopefully I'll do well on the test. I'll let ya know how it goes.

By the way, Judicator knows more math than you could possibly imagine. I'm not even joking.

they give you the constraint equations... I odn't see the problem.
and I just showed you how to make the table

Hmm. I'm more lost in this post then the math now, haha.
