72 bucks, doing well. What IF...?
We gained more quicker than last month...A big what if, but imagine.
Prizes: What if! We gave out entire computer systems?
What if! We had weekly drawings for prizes?
What if! n00bfest brought in more revenue?
Doing good so far, let's go go go!

You could use a random list generator with the names of the people that donated and the person at the top of the list would win whatever prize we had for the month.

The stylophone is so 10th century B.C. It's all about the Otamatone now. I got one for my cousin and it's actually a very capable instrument! The fact that she never even touched it offends me greatly. I will offer an authentic signed photograph of yours truly to the truly luckiest of the winners.

I made a $50 donation a few days ago, but apparently paypal is being gay and delaying the transaction for a few days.

Re: 72 bucks, doing well. What IF...?
I'm not sure making n00bfest into a more commercial site would be that good, people would start donating one dollar per month to be able to win the price and we would loose the ones who really contribute, cause a lot of them would probably feel that it is unfair that people who donate nothing is able to run away with a prize they paid for..
It's a good idea to get some competition going, it doesn't have to be a n00bfest tournament, it might even be a thing that only goes on in the forums to get people more active in here, maybe with a small prize for the winner, one for the most original and one for the most horrible contribution.
What i'm saying really is that if we are to do this it should be a minimum of what the people who donate have to donate to be able to win, maybe even a competition to help with either design, signatures for n00bfest, map making.. The possibilities are huge to make the contest help n00bfest with something that needs to be done :)

Like a draw between the top 5 contributors in the month or something would be better imo. Then you might get people competing for a top 5 spot so they had a chance at winning. Something to make it fair. If someone donated $120, then a person that only donated $5 won a computer you know somewhere along the lines people might get angry and stop being so generous. Then we'de start having months were it was a fight to even get to $400.

Re: 72 bucks, doing well. What IF...?
these are all interesting ways to find who we should choose to give the prize too. i think we should set a dollar amount lets say $5 and anyone that pays more then or equal to that amount can be accepted into the auction. the ling is we cant do the more money someone puts in the better chance they have to win.the reason why is because lets say if the give away item is worth 3000 dollars then someone out in this n00bfest community would give 1000 dollars so he could have about a %99.99 to win saving them 2000 dollars.this may discourage other people to donate.i think what we would really want is people to all have a complete even and fair chance. my father owns about 6 companey so i could get some donations but idk when really. pm me if you have anything to say

Re: 72 bucks, doing well. What IF...?
Ya, true. But I don't think they would be letting people know what the prize is going to be in advance. It would probably be announced at the beggining of the next month and also who won it. No matter what it could be unfair. With no set ammount, the one who donates the most may get a little irritated that someone who donated a fraction won the prize. But keep in mind, it's a donation. You're contributing to something without the expectation of something in return. So all in all it's fair no matter what. Recieving something for donating is more than you would normally expect. So my input is that you've come up with a great idea here Coach!
