First, I want to thank everyone who helped make all of these shiny new servers possible. Everyone who donated rules; even those who only donated a few bucks here and there. Every tiny little bit helps. Fomenta and I have spent countless hours trying to figure this shit out. You guys have no idea how bright this guy is. He's a F*CKING genius, and I want him to have my babies. If ever I'm up in his neck of the woods, I'm going to get this guy MEGA drunk. Many, many times. Thank you CorpseHumper for dealing with the new server company (he still handles all of n00bfest's finances, as it's his baby and he can afford to pick up the slack a lot easier than I can -- plus, it's a headache I don't want to deal with). He spent a decent amount out of his own pocket because during some elite haxoring, the server went down and we were unable to get into the operating system. We had to pay (by the hour) to have the hosting company hook up a device -- an IPKVM -- up to the machine so we could remotely access it as if we were sitting in front of it. I say "we," but really, all that haxoring was done by fomenta. That shit really, really sucked... and fomenta stayed up working on the damned thing all night. We've lost a ton of sleep working on this project (thanks, Adderall and Provigil!).

That being said, I've got some good news and bad news.

The bad news is that it appears that the current main server is deteriorating pretty quickly. It crashes more frequently, and doesn't want to come back up sometimes. We've gone through many different configurations and installations in our test environment and have had a lot of trouble getting a 32man 66tic server with mani (admin plugin) working with any sort of stability. Hell, even a lot of the 16 player test servers we configured crashed on a regular basis.

That's why we haven't moved the main server over yet. As of now, the best server we've tested is just as bad as our existing main server, and that's not what I want to release. I don't want to come out and say, "hey! Thanks to everyone who donated and made this possible! here's the same mediocrity that you guys had last month!" I want to have a bad ass server.

The whole point of this post, really, and the good news is... I want to let you guys know that I think I'm pretty damn close to having a stable main server set up. We'll see -- I've had one running without any crashes for 24 hours now (as opposed to the normal crash cycle of 4-8 hours). I just made some major configuration changes to it after the 24 hour mark, and it's now really close to the configuration of our current main server. With a few more days of testing, granted everything goes well, we might be looking at opening the new main server some time in the coming week.
