Post New Instrument!! :D
This morning I decided to spend some time with a musical instrument I've only barely touched. It's the first time I've really spent any time with it, and the results weren't half bad.

First time trying a nice, long freestyle on this thing.

Da fuq? For a moment I seriously thought you would break the shit out of it by the way you're holding your mallets and hitting on it... but really man that doesn't sound accurate at all, it's good looking, looks fun too, but doesn't vib at all... but eh, I'm used to marimba and vibe, Of course I expect a kind of level of sound... anyway, you do look like you sound in-game...

Edited

The thing is made out of bamboo, and it's designed as a tourist version of the real deal. I don't live in Indonesian territory but I could probably make one that is more accurate. I know what each of the tones on the thing is, so I can tell the general area to hit the mallets, which by the way were made out of primitively cut bamboo skewers and circles cut out of tires. Despite the overall non-toned nature, I think it's badass because I can pull snare and bass sounds out of it as well as mallet instrument-type sounds too.

Actually, you could play with my 4 30$/each mallets and it wouldnt even F*CKING sound better... As you said, it's a tourist version, not the real deal. I got a tourist version of a cajòn, but somehow I found out how to make it sound good...

as long as you have fun playing it and you take the time to find out how to play it well and make it sound the best it could, you can have a lot of fun with this piece of &?!$

I would make buckets and cans sound good too.

Yeah, but you need to realize that pots and pans (not buckets or cans) can sound EXTREMELY good... and are used in more recording than you think. That bamboo p.o.s. can only go so far. If you like melodic percussion instruments, you should absolutely invest in a cheap xylophone.

That's right, some people can do miracles with crapy instruments... I'll have a 20 year old marimba in 2 days at home, it sounds really great and it's F*CKING OLD! Can't wait to play on this piece of work + I got it free from my teacher :D!

Kwang if you need help to find "real" (meaning better sound quality) instruments, I can hook you up with some good things for really cheap if you want. I don't know much about a lot of perc, but about marimbas, xylo, vibe, congas and djembe (and most of drum kits) I got some good knowledge in it ;)

I'm not stoned, I don't even smoke. Also, it's not a written or practiced piece. I did this after pulling an all-nighter, but that made no difference.

The bamboo is split lengthwise on all of the out-of-tune pieces so I just use those ones to make more drum-like sounds. (Obviously not traditional drums)
