Post Djembe or Congas??
hey, i'm planning on buying a djembe, but i also want to buy congas... but since both are F*CKING expensive, i can only afford 1 of em...

i was looking for Moperc percussions since they're hand-made in canada and they're specially made for the weather over here, which isnt really good for those kinds of percussions (cold weather = bad for the skin)

so yeah, i was looking for the Custom Djembe 13 for $800, awesome bass sound and great color (http://moperc.com/drums/djembes.php) Note that i dont want the 1 with the cords. this is harder to tune and it doesnt sound the same when u change the skin...

or

Congas, a set of 3 congas (the Tropical Series) for $2600, costs a lot more than a djembe, but it plays a different kind of music and it's a set of 3 (http://moperc.com/congas_drums/congas.php)

so now i really dont know which 1 i'd like the most, i'd love to buy the djembe cuz i just fall in love everytime i play some, and playing it with some buddies around a camp fire with lots of booze, it's just amazing... but, i really like congas too since you can play another kind of music which i really love too, but i couldnt bring it at a fire... so for those who know how all this shit sounds, or at least youtube them, leave me a comment about which 1 would be better for now

cuz i already got a snare, i got some random lil percussions too, and i want to play with a lot more and buy a lot more, so if i buy a djembe, ill buy the congas later or vis/versa... and hopefully, in 6-7 years, i'll buy a vibraphone which is my favourite instrument...

Djembe all the way.....and then the congas. http://www.remo.com/portal/products/6/1 ... dj_kt.html
I had the 14" "Earth" Held up through many of drum circles, and it's key tuned. It's just big enough to get that great deep bass sound and can bend the head enough to get some cool sounds.

Neither. You can't do anywhere near as much with the djembe as you can with the congas, and you can't do anywhere near as much with the congas as you can with tabla.

TRUST ME ON THIS, MY FRIEND: GO WITH TABLAS. And here is a link to an eBay listing of brand new tablas for $228: http://cgi.ebay.com/TABLA-DRUM-Embossed ... 5d28b542f8

Tabla are insane to play, and to play correctly you'll need YEARS. Djembe is much more pop, and easy to pick up.
