You just can't say anything bad about old metallica. They were one of the few bands that could play anything live. And they played it better live than they did in the studio, pure talent.

Ok this band is F*CKING sick. Lead singer is Devin Townsend. He used to be a vocalist for Steve Vai way back in the day. The drummer is a giant fat F*CK named Gene Hoglan who I swear is one of the best out there. Once you see his size youll see. Devin has a side project named the Devin Townsend band which is actually pretty sick and falls in the region of Dreamtheater etc and also tours with dreamtheater a lot.

And Dirk I just can't think of a single song off of St. Anger that I can actually listen to all the way through without getting bored and browsing to an older, better (imo), Metallica song. The best song on it is the title track, but Some Kind of Monster is decent too. I just plain don't like the rest of the album. On the flip side, I'm one of the 'purists' that was F*CKING impressed with Death Magnetic. I think its a step back in the right direction - even if they're not the same band live. They're old and can't really rip like they used to but they still HAVE IT. Death Magnetic kicks ass =]

Yeah, Devin Townsend and Strapping Young Lad are beasts. Gene Hoglan is a beast's beast because he's just that sick of a metal drummer. If you like Strapping Young Lad, you should really like Nevermore. The two have very similar styles and feels to their sound. Very heavy, very ragey, yet very technically proficient and progressive. Good combo.
