Dwarf Fortress is a free indie game about dwarves building a fortress. It's a bit like Nethack and other rougelikes, except more about construction management. I'm pretty sure it's the most complex game I've ever played.

I finally have a fortress going, after a few hours of learning and F*CKING up. Pretty much the only way to figure it out is to play along with a video tutorial. Captnduck's seem to be the best:

This is the main entrance and workshop areas of my fortress. It's several more levels deep though.


I haven't really been attacked yet. Except by rhesus monkeys, but they were no problem. I have a corridor of traps set up and that seemed to mess them up a bit. I'm a bit nervous that somethings going to siege me soon.
