Now, after reading some of the posts on the forums, I have come to think that my measly 130 some hours on CSS is not incredibly high. I only started playing this year. Before playing css, I used to play Team Fortress 2, logging around 800 hours by the time I left for a realistic game. ALthough I have some experience on FPS, I've only being playing these type of games since maybe 3 to 4 years ago. Sometimes, I understand players will doubt the validity of my kills or skill (of which I still lack); I go 0-15 some rounds and 15-0 on others. I suppose although I know CSS technique, I am not able to play skillfully on a consistent basis, or react well in pressure situations.

From this, I know only experience can help me. What do you do to play better? WHat sets the best top scorers apart from the others?

Practice. Lots of situations come up in this game. The longer you play the more you understand how to play in those situations and the best ways to approach them while getting frags.

What Emop said. Personally, i like to go with the F*CK IT i'm going down in a hail of bullets method in a lot of situations even sometimes in scrims. lol. Practice makes situations less stressful Proud of my 1100 hours of CSS time lol.

I don't know I've played for a few years now and I still suck, then again I don't really try. If you want to get good you should start playing intelligently and be patient. Take examples from Luff, just try not to be a baiting HOMOSEXUAL like him though ♥

Be patient, and try be smart like Cyning said. If you can outsmart your opponent, they're dead instead of you. It's that simple. And yeah, practice. Practice a lot. Bots personally don't help me because they're not intelligent people who are trying to outsmart you. Practice on good servers. Scrim once and a while in order to play with experienced people. Spec players that are efficiently good. Study what they do and how they do it. It helps a lot.

I'm the same way. Depends on what kind of mood I'm in though and whether I feel like focusing. Oh and luck. A lot of times I'll go 10-2 and then be 10-15 by the end of the map. It's awesome.

1) spec better players
2) when main is full - join iceworld / scouts & knifes server and see how each gun behave (recoil, accuracy) on single shots, bursts and stray&pray
3) coffee or something to raise blood sugar. On caffeine or sugar your brain works better - faster reaction time and better precision, so better changes to get a HS and get it before the opponent will fire at you.

Understand that in a pub, someone's going to have a Target on your back, and they will bait their entire team just to get you, and then brag about it.

Deathmatchdeatchmatchdeathmatch. Learn to aim first. Once you've got the aiming down get the mindset. If you can predict where they're going to go and get a nade off where they're going your life will be easier. Oh, and never camp. Peekers advantage is against people holding angles. Peekers advantage = on the Peekers screen you are around the corner but the character model is still behind it, thus you can shoot before they see you. (also read: interp.) This game is broken as F*CK, and it favors the mediocre over the really good. It's like Mario kart. Anyone can get 3 blue shells and knock the best player out of first for an entire race.

-It's not all about aiming, it's about playing smart
-Learn how to control the recoil on your guns
-Nothing wrong with spraying as long as you control it
-Stand still when you shoot (or your bullets wont be accurate)
-No real NEED to rush on CT side on de_ maps.

Use Pistols to improve your aim

Might I personally advise scouting, it always gets the job done

I always play better the first 30-45 min of play. Then it seems to go down hill. I probly lose focus. Still fun though!

It can be all about aiming and reaction. Most situations if your aim is better than the person you are looking at, you will kill them. You just have to know where they are coming from and not get LOLNADED! but by the time you get to that point everything else will get there too. Completely focusing on one aspect of your game will help everything else. Just know that if you aren't alive beyond mid-round for those half hp situations now, you won't learn how to deal with them when you get into one later.

Basically, it's when you let a teammate go out before you so they can draw enemies out. Then, once your teammate has gotten raped, you simply just go out and pick of the enemies that are now out of ammo and are low on health.
