FYI, if you put your updaterate above 66 for Source, all you will be doing is lying to yourself and your game. The highest updaterate for Source is 66 and if you make it any higher than that, your net_graph will give you incorrect numbers since it is trying to base its calculations off of 100/101/120 instead of the max of 66.

Source is probably somewhere in fomenta's link to the dev wiki.

Doesn't matter. It will set it too the server maximum any way. On noobfest it auto sets my rates to 66/67.

Well I made a autoexec file with all those settings. It did some good and some bad.

Good: Reg is a lot better for the most part. Lerp is 0 and white.

Bad: A lot of the players look really glitchy. FPS dropped from 270-290 down to 130-140. The reg on the glitchy players is not quite so good. A little worse than before the setting were changed actually. Any suggestions on what to do? I'm not sure what the hell each of those settings do. If a specific one is causing the problems, wich I could change. I don't know whether to leave it and deal with it, or just go back to .031 lerp(.03 makes it solid orange) and meet in the middle somewhere.

try fps_max 101 (or if you have a 120hz monitor fps_max 121)
Players should not be glitching, and it sounds like a problem on your end for some reason.

It was better the last time I played a little bit ago. No glitching, but still low FPS. I'm not exactly sure what my monitior is. I'll have to figure it out. But thanks State.

Either the server needs restarted, or the server is enforcing interp settings on our end. All of a sudden starting today it's not possible to attain 0 lerp.

Wasn't possible before. Just put a post-it note where it is on your screen and write 0 on it, it'll be the same as using a 120 updaterate, useless. 66 will give you what you are actually getting.

"The client can request a certain snapshot rate by changing cl_updaterate (default 20), but the server will never send more updates than simulated ticks..."

I still don't understand why they haven't allowed us to save our interp and ragdoll settings so I don't have to worry about them every time I open the game and join a server.

We've had more than our share of laggy motherfuckers joining up, pwning people because they can't be killed unless they're standing still, and getting away with it for too long. We need to literally tell people "fix your lag or be kicked" and it works wonders.

Fomenta enabled the new convar that forces interp to <= .03 and interp_ratio to <= 2. I like it.

I do just play. I don't blame my lerp every time I die. This thread wasn't started for no reason. It's here to help people fix their problems. Wich is why I asked for help.

Is it only n00bfest main that you are having problems? If it is, then it's just the server being full of people and struggling. It does it for me at the beginning of rounds and during the initial big fight at the main choke. If it happens in every server, then it's probably your internet and there isn't much you can do about that. Complaining to your internet company tends to help more than "fixes".

Well it happens in the noobfest servers mainly. I play in 3 servers, mainly the noobfest main, HG deathmatch(when noob servers are full, and today we got a group together in the second n00b main. I don't notice it in the deathmatch, but it's so hecktic I might not notice it. In the n00bfest main, like you, it happens at the beggining of a map a lot, then slows down until there's a lot of people in one area. Then a little bit ago Me, Dirk, Joe and a couple others noticed it was BAD in the second main until they restarted the server. Then it got a lot better. Last night and today it was a lot better though. When I first mentioned it, it was happening throughout whole maps. Now it's for short periods of time. So i'm not to worried about it anymore. Jst l;ike anyone who lags a lot i'll get used to it. Just takes a little time.
