Just wondering, has anyone heard anything about a new version of Counter Strike? A while back I remember hearing that they were going to put out a new one in 2010, but I have nothing to back that up. Just curious if anyone out there knows anything about it if there is even anything to know. I can't imagine they will just let such a popular game die like this.

I believe the last talk about it was at E3 where Gabe Newell gave out his email address to everyone and asked that gamers email their opinion on CS2 or Portal 2.

And because there's an astonishingly high amount of faggots in this world who actually like Portal (protip: one fan of Portal is too many), we'll probably never see CS2.

He later changed it to ranking what you want to see done from a list of about 5 things.

I emailed him the other day and told him to make CS2 and to hire me at Valve.

He emailed me back only saying, "Thank you."

whoop! another reiteration of counter-strike that we can complain about how it doesn't play the same as the old one and the registry sucks.

in all honesty what else does cs need? if you want all that 'extra' stuff just play cod. its really hard to make tasteful additions to cs. what the creators of cs were aiming for was a game close to that of cod. they wanted vehicles, shields, rockets... etc But every update that they released can with a large amount of backlash from the community (mostly from the competitive scene) so i doubt they will come out with a new cs that is fresh as it was 10 years ago unless they somehow reinvent the game. If they wanted the game to be like cod they lost their chance cuz MW beat them to the punch. hopefully they stop working on l4d and actually do some brainstorming on the cs front.

I jsut don't understand their reasoning for not putting out CS 2 earlier? I mean their out to make money like all the other companies and CS is one of the most popular online games out there so why not try and take advantage of that? Their business plan blows asshole. Their business plan is the exact opposite of Blizzard's plan. Instead of forcing their customers to buy expansion after expansion to keep up with updates and shit they wait and wait for years until the CS version is so outdated that no one wants to play it and everyone has to beg for a new version. Absolutely ridiculous.

I think they just severely underestimated the popularity of CS. At one time it was the most popular online game of any genre. I think that they don't like the idea of a game born from a mod becoming more popular than the ideas they themselves came up with.
