Post Round start timer
I just had an idea I thought i'de throw your way. I've noticed a lot of people die at the beggining of the round for team attacking in spawn. Sometimes it's accidental because of shooting at the enemy just before the round ends. Other times it's because of just randomly firing at the end of the round. Would making the round start timer 1 second be a bad idea ? Then you're not sitting there forever waiting to start, but if you're shooting at the enemy at the end of a round you don't have to be worried about being slayed in the next round. LIke I said, it's just an idea.

We've actually discussed this in the not too distant past.

The conclusion of the discussion was that the "insta-start" is a FEATURE of our server, and would remain in place. It allows quick-buyers to have a nice advantage in position.

Now, the issue I would think would be a comprimise is, how about turning off the "early round TK slay" on the server? If begin-round tk is eggregious let admins handle it like normal. Otherwise just go to the old style of bitching "GEE THANKS ASSHOLE" that I actually enjoy hehe.

Great response Dirk. Not only was this recently discussed, but I can remember a time in the last year or so where we actually had a slight delay at the beginning of each round. The opposition to the delay far outweighed the voices in support of it.

Yeah dirk's right. The instant start thing is such a tradition n00bfest anyway.

Also, I think that the autoslay is a good feature since (my guess) it might be boring to always slay a player that TK'd at the begining of the round, and it's not like there's no way to know that the round will restart in few seconds.

I say we keep the autoslay, just take a look at who get slayed most of the time and what if there wouldn't be this shit.
And no need to argue about the round start timer.

Perhaps, we can add something to turn off FF for the first couple of seconds of the round. There's a few times where people are having a firefight after the round has ended and end up holding the fire button a tad too long.

EXACTLY what dirk said. This topic has come up quiet a few times I've been in n00b, and the general response always is:

Freeze time has never been used in n00bfest, nor will it ever. However the autoslay at the begining of the round hasn't always been around, and will be taken off (most likely).

there is a way to turn off FF for the first X seconds of a round. However, it requires adding an event script to the server, and every event script has the potential to cause server lag.

Just keep it that way and stop whining about that auto-slay, I don't want this server to lag.

Stop shooting at the end of a round, don't get slayed, be happy.

The answer is no because chris would suck so bad if we had a start timer on the main ♥

I'm not complaining about anything. The only complaint I would have is that half the time someone get's slayed in the beggining of a round isn't because of stupidity and spraying for no reason. The bomb goes off, the round is seconds from over and an enemy pops out. "Well the round IS about to end so i'm just not going to shoot at him" doesn't go through your head. You just shoot. It's only happened to me 1 time so far because of that reason.

I don't mind any of the servers settings. They are all good. I was just thinking of something to improve it slightly. I wouldn't bring it up if the auto slay barely ever happened. I just brought it up because it happens damn near every single round.

All I expected out of this thread was people to concider my idea and shoot some good ones back at me, cuz i'm all ears.

Also, I support Dirks message.

Spraying at the end of the round isnt an accident. You can see that shit coming a mile away before the round starts. You cant fix stupid. I like dirks response so im happy.

Ya it's not an accident to shoot at the enemy. But when it hit's a team mate at the beggining of the next round it is. I already said it once. I didn't bring it up because of a personal hatred torwards the slay for spawn attacks. I could care less, because it's funny watching all the people that get slayed by it, and then the responces from other players makes it funnier. I just noticed a hell of a LOT of people dieing from it so I thought bringing it up might be a good idea. My idea might not be the best, but i'm sure there's a lot of better suggestions out there. Either that or a big ol' F*CK you Caniboid..It's staying lol.

Caniboid chill the F*CK out would you? Wasn't pointing you as the whiner in this whole story or I would've written really clearly "Caniboid stop whining you bitch". You're just not the first one asking for this, and no you did not whine.

And yes I thought about this, and it happened to me to see an enemy at the end when the bomb exploded, and no I didn't team attack when the round started back.

And I'm sure it's mostly lil teamkiller pricks and new players that get slayed more often than players that "shoots to an enemy at the end of the round".

It's n00bfest, it always been that way (except for the auto-slay), the auto-start is win, and the auto-slay is win.

And just a little note how I see this when it happens (if it happens) : take it like a man.

It's exactly like the smart asses who come here and ask for an unban by saying that the admin is abusing his power and shit (i can only think of people asking for this cuz joemamma abused them haha)

Chilllllax all of you, it was not a bad suggestion considering he probably wasn't privvy to it the last time it came about. And since it was his idea he was a little defensive of it.

I totally understand Caniboid's position. Due to lag or whatever, sometimes you'll be shooting at a bad guy end of round, take your finger off the mouse button, and the shot will register beginning of next round. Complete and totally unintentional.

The insta slays are indeed funny too :)

That's what I was trying to get at :) Not thinking to straight lately. Thanks Dirk! The one time i've been slayed for it was for that. Some dude popped around the corner last second and I just aimed and shot cuz he scared the shit out of me lol. Just so happens that I shot right as the round switched.

Lecoq I wasn't trying to come off as being super defensive. Just tried to explain my reasons for bringing it up. If it came off that way, my bad. Wasn't intentional. I've been under a big load of stress for a couple days, and I took it as you were pointing me out(since you didn't point anyone out, I figured you were directing torwards the person that started the thread.)

I didn't realize I wasn't the first to post something about it. I was just looking around the forums and had nothing to do, so I brought it up. I don't care if it stays or not. It's good sometimes. It takes care of the dude that is just randomly unloading his gun at the end of a round, and gives ya a chuckle. If it happens to me I wait it out(that's all you can really do other than rage quit.)
