Is it time to lock-down the Texas server and move on?

I wouldn't shut it down, but I would make it a smaller player limit and password it permanently for matches only.

I'll name it something that would draw people to the website to inquire about it.

Then I'll use it's resources to run full-time 1.6 and CZ servers with small player limits for now (12 each?) and see how they do after a while.

I have watched over the months and Texas is not growing. A few admins use it a a refuge from the crowd in Bama. They would still be able to do that since they would obviously have the password for it. They could also share the password with their regulars so they still have someplace to gather in the evenings.

But... after two months, Texas still doesn't have enough traffic to even be ranked by Server Spy. If you look at the server stats page, you'll see that it still doesn't keep people in it more than a couple hours a day.

I think u should put the newer maps there, like aztec 2, assault 2000(or whatever u call it) maybe that walmart map and cs_shoothouse(I LOVE THAT MAP) and if we really really like a map there u can bring it to sanf. Ok thats all i have to say.

Well, newer maps are fun, but the only way to use them without running everyone out of the server is to have them installed and do a vote for them when the server is already full of people.

If they're used in rotation, people won't stay. I know most of "us" would, but the noobs run away when the rotation includes new maps.

Same holds true for Iceworld. I tried running other funmaps on the server, in fact, it used to be called "Southern Alabama Funmaps". But alas... it stayed empty all of the time except when Iceworld was running. Now it stays ranked in the top 10% of all CS servers in the world. Noobfest stays in the top 5% or higher these days.

Well its the same if u make it a match server it will also stay empty because it has a password, so how would making it for use with new maps make a difference and u already have a spot to dl the maps from so we can go there to dl it.

1.6 and steam can lick my balls, my dogs balls, my grandfathers balls, and generaly all balls period.

i say just leave it how it is and if someone wants to use it they can ask an admin to pw it for em

We went to some gay computer store the other day and we were talking about the CS servers. He plays 1.6 and he'd like to host a CS 1.6 server and name it after the CorpseHumper.com servers. This would get us more web traffic and shit. I told him I'd talk to you about it.

I have a question about 1.6 and these servers... eventually, will we move the servers to 1.6? Or are we going to hold out until HL2 and then upgrade all the servers to CS2?

If he has some skills at getting configs set up and all, I wouldn't mind getting it setup on my machine. He would have to help me out with the configs, adminmod settings, and AMX bullshit. I have the machine for it already, and the bandwidth.

Have him drop me a line. I tried to get Softy (you remember "TheGentleSoftness"?) to setup the configs for a 1.6 server for me, but he's not up to the work I guess. If RiddleBox is up for it, great. If not, he's welcome to use my name in vain to drive the traffic up.

If this doesn't work out, everyone keep in mind that I'm looking for people to setup configurations for a 1.6 and a CZ server for me, with AMX and/or adminmod. AMX is preferred now, because stats and top15 are built-in. Plus the plugins are easy to install and plentyful.

Hey, I could most likely get a 1.6 server up and running. I can mod the server any way you need and run it under any special prompts and certs you need. The only problem I have with it is reassembling my now shattered computer, may not seem like a big deal... but it is when your counting pennies. Get back to me about it and we can figure something out.

i havnt voted yet but im trying to get back in shape to play cal.... 1.6 is so taxing i hate the crosshairs but they r adding the old crosshairs as an option soon so i hear, so 1.6 will be better then i think. I think i would try to make a dust2 dust aztec inferno server out of it thats maps ppl tend to like on the rotation.

Lock it down and keep it for people to use for scrims and such.

I voted and im with LV on this one. You already have a server dedicated to standard good CS maps, a server dedicated to FY and goof ass maps, so why not have a server dedicated to Scrim and Competitive matches.
