Why in the world would you get the intel?
My guess is, that AMD w/ HT will own that intel out of the sky in both games and desktop use.

Although the AMD clocks slower, you're comparing apples and oranges. That 2.2ghz processor can probably be overclocked to run very close to 3.0ghz with the stability and reliability of a bentley. That processor in particular is one of the best for the money. Although its clock speed is lower than the intel's, I am almost absolutely sure it outperforms it.
My 2.2ghz AMD processor totally owns Strange's 3.4ghz p4 processor.
Google AMD vs Pentium and you can find lots of good reading material on this.

Yeah, the Ghz battle is an odd one. It's like trying to compare engine RPMs to Horsepower and Speed. While there is a relationship there, it's not an absolute and direct correlation.
Just because an engine is spinning faster doesn't mean it's stronger or the car is moving faster.

amd for the win!
but what's with the four sticks of 512... just get two sticks of 1028.

If the board only supports 2 gigs of ram, then 4 dimms of 512 might be cheaper than 2 dimms of 1024.

Is it still good even if u dont overclock and also about the 512 it only lets him get 4 (512mb) and not 2 (1gb)

There's a difference between dumb and ignorant. When I was building a computer, I came to n00bfest for help and learned a whole lot. Don't rag on this guy for doing the same.

AMD hands down. Intel hasn't had a superior processor (in a reasonable price range) for quite some time now. if you really want to know look at this:
http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/11/21/ ... arts_2005/
the name says it all.
if i'm readin the charts right the AMD he wants blows away that little Pentium.
