 Proxy
Hey, I've been browsing a bit about proxies recently.
I watch netflix, but the Canadian Netflix sucks big time. Also I'd love watching the thursday night, sunday night and monday night football LIVE and not on replay. For that, I need to use an american proxy but I'm not sure how to get to do this.
Actually I don't really understand the whole system, and I'm wondering if there are some free ways to do this, or if I'd be better paying for a proxy.
Anyone could enlighten me on that?

 Re: Proxy
lecoq my advice would be to find a (cheap) VPS in the US, you can then use it as a proxy, as well as a number of other things, for around the same price as you would paying for a proxy service. just remember that if your going this route dont use it for illegal things, or you will be in trouble. (you would end up breaking US AND Canadian laws for instance if you were using it to torrent too, then FTPing em off of it) as far as free ways go, they tend to blow, i would advise purchasing a proxy or VPS service, generally can get this for 5$ or less a month. first try this extension for firefox though: http://proxmate.dave.cx/cheap VPS offers: http://lowendbox.com/

 Re: Proxy
I'm good with torrenting in Canada. Would watching NFL and Netflix in the US be considered illegal since I'm actually in Canada or that's the whole proxy thing?
I'll try that firefox extension, thanks

 Re: Proxy
If you are paying for the service, then piping it through a vpn/proxy to yourself only i dont think it breaks any laws, but i would probably check first. Still more than likely if you are paying for the service the worst that would happen is getting shut off if they found out/didnt like it. However so long as its a streaming video that you are watching you SHOULD be safe. US side as far as i know with that setup IS legal. I however do not know all of american law, let alone canadian. Still i dont see (logically) where an issue would be connecting to a proxy to stream a free to air broadcast in america to canada OR paying for a streaming service in america and streaming it to you through a proxy.

 Re: Proxy
Most of these companies block public proxy services. They've been around the block a time or two. Maybe this will help a little bit. http://help.unotelly.com/support/articl ... t-blackout

 Re: Proxy
Holy shit that's quite expensive though.
I kinda forgot about the idea. I suck at computing so I'm not gonna try to do illegal shit just for live football.

 Re: Proxy
Well, from what I read, that wasn't illegal.

 Re: Proxy
Idk I always thought proxies were ways to get stuff that is banned in your country, which I thought was illegal to get it unbanned in a way.

 Re: Proxy
Well I think that the solution I gave had nothing to do with proxies, it was legit. Then again, I didn't read all of it, so I could be wrong.

 Re: Proxy
50$/month + the subscription to NFL.com is too much. I can watch the sunday afternoon football live. Just not the thursday night, sunday night and monday night. Not a big deal, I watch them the day after.
Thanks for the help though.
