So, my girlfriends laptop is having the weirdest issue I've ever seen.

If her PC is idle or she's not doing much (facebook, skype, whatever), the graphics driver tends to fail or her machine crashes because of her GPU. If she leaves WoW on in the background while she does everything, rarely happens, and it never crashes, just graphics driver resets. Sometimes she gets a black screen, and has to do a hard reboot.

We've tried every driver from the original for her card to the latest. I hear it happens with the Qosmio group of laptops. Read a lot of other people having similar problems. I think it's a voltage problem or something (Started happening after she dropped her laptop a while back). Everything else works fine, and like I said, as long as she keeps WoW running and her GPU is in use, it doesn't seem to happen but rarely (She boots up her laptop, turns on WoW, does it every day, and maybe crashes once a week while doing it like this).

We tried a full reinstall of Windows, tried everything driver related, even used Nvidia control panel to tweak settings. The only thing we've found to keep it stable is keeping WoW (Well, League of Legends keeps it stable too).

I figured I'd post here cause some of you nigs might know.

sounds like a power management issue. if the problem persists through a wipe, look at the laptops power management options. if not that, then you are looking at a damaged circuit somewhere.

Extra Note: Does not crash when on battery power or when battery is charging, but if battery is at 100% and plugged in, it will do it.

Sounds to me like a power supply issue. I realize that when I say this, people automatically think I'm trolling, but this is the case. I would replace the DC Jack, and see if it fixes your issue. Sometimes the DC Jack breaks inside a little bit (especially if it was dropped while still plugged into the adapter)

That's what I thought originally. I know i can solder a new one on if that's the case. I'll have her check if it's lose at all as well when she gets home today. Turkey was thinking it's the power management module. Worst case I'll have her contact Toshiba.

Had this issue happen on my laptop. Are you running an Nvidia card? There's a hardware level bug when switching between power levels that can cause a crash. Google "disabling powermizer" and see if it will fix your issues.

Thanks Jet. I was actually looking into that. That's what I was thinking after I read up. I found the powermizer manager, gonna have her try that tonight. Wasn't sure if I should try it.
