Post Great news! I'm so relieved!
First of all, you are all super gay in a not so gay kind of way, if you know what I mean?

This may get confusing, the last paragraph is the good news. The rest is explaining my shitty job and what's going on with it.

So I have to explain something first. So my current pay has a base salary, but I am paid off of production. My production is 20% of the work that I do. So if my production amount exceeds my base salary, I make my production, if it doesn't then I at least make my base pay. Simple enough?

About 1 month ago my current employer announced that they would be switching all employees from Salary/Production to Hourly(to save the company shit tons of money.) I was pissed about that because my hours are shit lately(this month i've had one day with more than 5.5 hours) and my production is what's paid the bills lately. So I informed my employer that I was not OK with this change because at 40 hours a week(which i'm not getting) the hourly amount was $1000 less annually than the previous year(way to pay me back for how hard I work for this company...a pay cut.) Not only that, but no more commission on my sales. My supervisors said they would fight for me, because I am the ONLY person in my company that knows what I do. But within 10 minutes they sent me paperwork to sign to agree to the hourly wage...F*CK that! So it's 2 weeks later now and I still refuse to sign, and they are on my ass pretty hard. They say, if I don't sign, I'm gone. I say if I'm gone, there's no one to train the new guy(that they have yet to hire.) Which is what's keeping my job....very temporarily.

So now for the good news. Today I had an interview for a new job. The company decided to just hire me on the spot because I was the only person who went to the job opening event that actually payed attention. The job agreed to pay me the exact same amount this year as I made last year....Plus monthly incentive! The incentive is pretty good too. It is a guaranteed minimum of $600 extra dollars onto your check at the end of each month(As long as you don't majorly F*CK up.) That is the incentive you make if your job is done..ok. If you do everything correctly, down to the T, you make an extra $2,400 a month. It wouldn't be easy to do everything exact. But it's a good incentive to try my best. Right?

So as of Friday those assholes at my current job will be out of a Technician, with no one to train the new one. I hate to be an asshole to people, or screw people over. But it's my only choice. The new company is paying for my 5 weeks of training, and the course starts Monday.

I'm just happy. I was really worried lately. I normally take a couple trips a year, and don't worry too much about money. But the last month has been rough, and I was almost positive that it was about to get a lot rougher.

Congrats Cani! That's great. Sucks that your former employer turned out to be a prick, but now you're making more $$!

Congrats! Go with the new job. If your company can't see how much of a hard worker you are then screw them. :)

Hey man, congrats. Just be sure you get all the new shit confirmed and signed before you throw your deuces.

If you really feel bad and it's an option (e.g. new place will let you start in a few weeks), you can give the old place the typical 2 weeks notice before bouncing...

Just again make sure it's signed! I've heard horror stories about people quitting for a new job and having the offer rescinded at the last second.

Ya, definitely. I made sure everything is in writing. But the class has to start Monday. So no options for a notice. Going to out it in in the morning.

It would definitely be nice to be part of the 1%, but I am far from it. The money I spend on traveling is the money a normal person would spend on drinking and smoking, which I don't do. Helps me have a little extra pocket money.

Congrats! Don't feel bad for your old company, they fucked themselves! You have to look out for yourself because obviously they didn't look out for you the greedy pricks. If I were you I would go in and tell them first off you will never sign the document and that they have to make a choice right there. Upside they fire you and you won't get in shit for failing to give 2 weeks notice! Downside is that they cave and you still have to quit on them anyways for being douche bags!

Well, Monday is actually my first day. But if you mean how did it go with my current employer? They're not so happy. My supervisor is pissed that I'm giving such short notice. I can't blame him, but then again he can't blame me for doing what I'm doing. I told them over 2 weeks ago that I am not ok with the offered hourly pay rate. Like Captain said. I've gotta look out for myself. This new job will help me understand building codes for Utility lines. Which is part of my career goal. I would like to become a Fire Inspector, and this would be a small stepping stone. A lot of the advancement opportunities would also help with my career path. All in all, I think I'm making a good decision.

So yesterday was my last day. I would have to say it didn't go the way I had expected. A lot of the higher management pulled a meeting with me. They had exit interviews they wanted to go through with me, to see what they could do to keep me. Then once that meeting was done, the vice president of the company pulled me into his office. He said he's so sorry that he didn't see that I was unhappy. Then he offered me a position as an HVAC Manager. I would oversee the entire HVAC portion of the company. Under his supervision of course. I'm not sure what to do. I still want to follow my career path. But this pay could also help lead me in the same direction. I don't know?

It's unfortunate that they acted a little late, I would take the new opportunity. You shouldn't have to tell a company you're leaving, for them to come around.

Ya, I definitely took the new position. After some consideration I felt that the experience it would give me in public utilities would be much more beneficial. Today was my 5th day at the new job. I've got to say, I love it. I'm already getting experience I never even thought I would get. It's a 5 week training course, so they are getting into detail about everything I will come into contact with on my work sites, even if I won't personally be performing these tasks. I'm learning about all the trenching/construction equipment used on constructions site. I'm now a certified flagger. I've been learning about electromagnetic theory, and also how to understand plat maps from all of the local utility companies. There's shit tons of stuff, just can't list all of it.

With the amount of info they've stuffed into my head over the last 5 days, I'm surprised it hasn't exploded. But in the end, I would have to say that I am extremely happy with my new job. With my last job, it would make me so angry that I couldn't hide how I felt when I got home to my woman. In turn it would rub off on her and we were always in down moods just because of the fact that I hated my job. My old job had me in a repetitive pit, doing the same things over and over. I felt like I wasn't learning anything. This job has completely reversed things. Just 5 days has made it so I can see a clear path to a really good future. I come home in a GREAT mood, and always excited.

Sorry to go on about this. It's just one of those decisions in your life that you know will change you forever. For once I feel accomplished, and I can't help but pass on the good news to my n00b family.
