Congratulations, though the monetary compensation is the weakest on Spotify it's a great and modern source to listen to music that I use greatly to listen to old classics and to find new stuff primarily in the electronic genre(s). I'll be giving you a look up!

Thanks! I don't even think I'll get much of a cut from it at all, but that's totally not the point. It's really awesome to see my stuff getting out there. First it was DI.fm, now Spotify, and all the other mainstream sites are already selling the EP and single so I'm not complaining one bit. It's truly an awesome feeling. Very accomplished.

I've still got a lot of work to do yet, but I was thinking of changing things up a bit this time around for the next album. Not only have I gotten about 400% better, (that's not a joke, either) but I've gotten a lot smarter with advertising and since the last album, I've gotten a lot of new subscribers on YouTube (over 1k now, close to 1k on Twitter) and I've made some pretty decent friends in the industry who do lots of VGM. I think this year will be much better than last year.

Speaking of upping the stakes a bit, I'm considering doing a Kickstarter project (www.kickstarter.com) to give it some back-funding with some incentives. I'll probably post something in the art forums about it later, but the thing is that if I were to do this, I'd need some backers to go in off the bat. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the art/music section gets a lot of love so I'd need the power of some awesome n00bfest members to help me get there.

I'll probably have some really neat details pretty soon if I decide to go this route. I just don't want to invest in something and it fail miserably and show. It's one of those 50/50 things where it could make or break you. While I'm not against that at all, I think I'll just need to man up a bit and put myself out there and go balls-to-the-wall with it all and if it doesn't work, at least I could still do this as a hobby.

Well, I really liked Recalling Life a lot, but there's a time and place for it you know? I made just enough money to make up for what I had spent on it, but it literally sells no copies now. I went with the "free" approach with it, and I've not looked back since doing that.

I was pretty naive with electronic stuff and my fascination with Benn Jordan and The Flashbulb and Squarepusher was at an all-time high. Glitch is truly where my heart lies, but the greatest thing about my creativity (if I may) is that I'm pretty versatile. I can make just about any genre of electronic out there, excluding some sub-genres that I'm just not really into much. I think the biggest seller on that album was "Journey Home", and it was trance. I noticed that, so I adapted.

I guess what I mean to say is that there's a big "one-way" street approach I could take, but when I started working on the new album, I decided early on that it would be pretty versatile just as the last one progressed in genre from using a real guitar and effects only on the first two tracks which just so happens to be one of them you like to glitch-based, to trance, then finally to house.

I decided that for this album I'd do something a bit different but also similar in the sense that there'd be some type of progression. I promised myself I'd do two tracks of each genre I was looking into, which are currently:

House
Dubstep
Glitch
Electro-Funk

Right now, I've got three tracks fully completed out of eight. Then I realized I hit a brick wall. I didn't have any other synths or vsts to help create the other tracks. Once I realized this, I panicked and I've not been in the studio since. Now, that's not to say I won't come back or anything... but it just means I've got to wait for that creative spark to hit to continue -- the inspiration.

Soooo... TL;DR, there's definitely going to be some P-D:V and Black Box type material on there, but it won't be quite the same mentality that was applied to it back then. It'll sound much, much better, and it'll be much more rounded to my specific style since I feel pretty comfortable with FL now.

I'm not really sure if I'll do a total of eight tracks or if I'll do about six or so and add some previous tracks to the list that I've done that really define my style and skill-set for now. Over the past year, I've seen how much better my mixing and mastering has gotten, and I want to make sure that I do it really well this time. I consider my music like a wine, it's just getting better with time. Those people who follow along with me will watch it transform into something (hopefully) big eventually, and I think that's something that every artist wishes they could share with people who listen to their tunes around the world.

Haha for some reason I thought futurama when I read the thread title. I was pleasantly disappointed! Good news indeed acid, I'm glad to hear you are making headway in the industry! I'll tune in to you on spotify as I drive around this week. Good job pursuing your passion and making it through!
