Yeah I read about this when the story was printed...last year. Surprised ppl still don't know about it.

I recently took myself off of government assistance and am now poor as F*CK but I'd rather have my dignity. Besides, I eat a healthier diet than 90% of Americans. It's amazing what you can do for your health just through a primarily vegetarian diet, and exercise. (Don't hate, I have a rack of ribs in my fridge from the night before, it's just I eat much less animal protein than most people).

guy should be forced to pay a bill when he gets out, considering he planned the whole thing, thats called conspiracy and fraud/waste/abuse of governmental functions.

Thats a real crime, if he needed serious healthcare, a hospital somwhere would have still treated him, they would just slap him with a bill and hope he payed it someday.

This man will not get the kind of treatment he thinks he will get plus Im sure he will enjoy the nasty food and heavily flouridated water during his stay.

You would be surprised what he gets. He will go to a normal hospital and be taken care of just like any normal non felon person. He will live in the hospital until he is healthy enough to be released back to the prison. When they release him, he will go to a medical yard where he will probably be put on a special diet, all medication he needs, and watch tv all day. If he cant go to the chow hall, someone will be assigned to bring him every meal. He will have it made for 3 years until he gets out and collects social security. He is brilliant!!

A bit late to the topic I know, but working in a jail I can confirm that they do indeed get dental work, surgeries, and hospital trips taken care of for a 20 dollar fee (at least where I work). The funniest thing is a lot of them still bitch about that, lol. But yeah, this is basically how the law views it: when you take someone into custody, you are now responsible for their wellbeing. Yes, they're locked up, but believe me, for the most part they are taken care of. Every once in a while the inmates get the run around from nurses and such, but if they are persistent they will get the care they want.
