Ok so technically I have no experience to answer any questions but I started this so Hooker and others can give tips to anyone who needs help to improve their setup and knowledge of having the best sound within different ranges ~ Headphones/Computer/Speakers and what ever accessories or other items follow.

Wall of text short history (excuse the grammar) of... "music equipment": I guess in 2008 I got both my 1st headphone and music player (Sennheiser 555 and Cowon S9) and I loved them both until I dropped the Cowon into my soup. I got a Ipod Touch 4th generation a year or so back but my music player experience pretty much ended for me. I have an Asus DX audio card for my computer and the Sennheiser. I was thinking about a possible amp to improve my music listening experience and i came to favor the FiiO e5 headphone amp. I was looking forward to something similar to the Denon AH-D1100 but was in the ~$120 range that I can't seem to find. Crap been surfing again for shiny shiny..'s Might go for the Fiio E11 wait no I need the money for something else..crap. Now i lost my focus on what I was writing here (wall of text!!) but i ran into some audiophile guide websites but i would like to come here and get a faster feedback response. Also, I just added a question mark to the subject line so now its a question!

I still have the iPod but my brother hijacked it until he gets an iPhone or some other hoopla (currently has ammo loading apps and other manly shit on there..like welding/cnc and metal/dubstep music!!!). I guess i'll need an in-ear headphone thingy also since my cans would be ridiculous as I run from imaginary zombies.

I feel like the only reason I'd buy a portable amp would be if my current device isn't outputting enough power to keep my cans at a good volume. I also believe the Senn 555's are also pretty sensitive and don't need anything that special to power them. Your Asus DX should be more than ample. If you want something cheaper than the E11's, the E5 could be an option like you said. Another thing to consider would be going to head-fi. Also a good set of in ears for not a lot are the Klipsich S4's, the Shure SE110s and the Monster Turbines.

That makes me want the Samsung Galaxy S II that some other members have even more..when I get a job. I'm started to turn towards the JDS Labs cMoyBB v2.03 for my iPod Touch. My brother mainly uses it and it'll most likely be some cheap in-ear thingy. I'd like to try it with the Senns when possible.

Before I give you any tips, you need to consider a few things:

First and foremost, price range. Always start from here.
What type of equipment do you want? Do you want head phones? Do you want a surround sound system? Do you want a 2 channel system?
Depending on your answer above, what are your space constraints? Does it need to be mobile? Does it need a special powering scheme?
Also depending on question 2, how are you going to input your music?
From this, what do you want it to sound like? Do you want earth shattering loudness or do you want crispness?

From your post it looks (albeit incoherent) like you're looking at headphones. But think about these five things and get back to me.

I'd recommend someone buy a good pair of HD-555s and a zalman clip-on mic before considering any "gaming" headset. The quality of headsets vary wildly, and are usually made in cheapo factories. I've had these 555s for years and have dropped them multiple times and they still work great. They are also the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.

one of the best headphones imo is the ultrasone pro 900, if youre lucky you should be able to find them at 350 bucks, amazon often overprices them at like 500 bucks
