 A Very Sobering Image
Now here's the funny part: I very rarely purchase anything for myself from any of these companies, and even so cannot avoid doing so.

You missed the part where Wal-Mart is right smack dab in the middle of all of them

Ok, some things don't add up. Why does Kraft own A&W Rootbeer but Pepsi Owns the resturant chain and you can't get pepsi at the resturants only rootbeer and coke products? Also this must be a Canadian list because Americans don't know what Kraft Dinner is, and I thought you Yanks didn't get Coffee Crisp bars down there.

 Re: A Very Sobering Image
lol..that list is entirely american in nature, what some of those companies own and distribute is regional in nature.. IE southern states coke owns dr pepper, in canada pepsi distributes it, Same with A&W

In fact, you go into a major supermarket and there is a plethora of food and goods and services that just simply don't exist. Even worse, most Americans couldn't tell you what those things are to begin with. (in particular a lot of fresh types of food, or anything that isn't conveniently packed for instant consumption).

grow your own food, raise your own animals, and stop complaining.
If you are in the position that you are unable to do those things, then you are slave to the system you crave so badly to rage against.
just saying.

just saying. I am able to do these things to a very limited extent, and intend to expand on that but yep I have the whole wage slave thing in my current life situation. Even as a wage slave I still choose to purchase as much locally grown or produced goods as I can find.

Oh of course it's sad but it's common knowledge. It's how the system works and how it will be. Accept it and quit crying about it because the likelyhood of it changing or the masses goIng forward and changing their buying habits is as likely as Jesus coming back or Marx's world revolution hapenin g no matter what your F*CKING new age tech blogs will report on. You are not fancy or making a large change by having the buying habits you have.

 Re: A Very Sobering Image
nice Kwang. I agree with Tazz but I feel the same way as Kwang and I live in SD where most ppl have yards and a simple garden, it doesn't help that much. I am fortunate enough that we get all our beef free(family farm) and our garden is like a quarter of an acre(HUGE). Either way I try to buy local and it's always going to be tuff to get everything you want local. Consumer knowledge for me is tied into my politics as far as what products I buy and what companies I buy from , to me that is being resposible for my views... ex. I go to Ken's for groceries over kessler's because ken's put in 40% towards the community! unlike wally-world! who puts in very little. The Super 8 hotel franchise was started here in Aberdeen SD and those guys that started it now own hundreds of hotels with different brand names but the hotels are owned by most of the same guys. anywho I like the post and time Kwang put in here. Thanks Buddy~

From what I know, A&W Root Beer, Dr. Pepper and 7up are distributed by Southeast Atlantic Beverage Co. in FL. Which is owned by a candy company in the UK called Cadbury confections. Which is weird because I always though Dr. Pepper was a Pepsi Co.

Dr pepper is one of many brands that are held by companies outside of major pop brands, coke/pepsi buy distribution rights as they come. which is why its different per region.

Kwang, I love ya like a brother but you sound like yoda in your last few posts (?!?current life situation?!?) and drink a soda thats owned by Kirin Brewery Company, based in Tokyo. You took the red pill and need to report to the med tent.
Ale-8 is "local" soft drink for my area. Tastes like owl piss therefore I choose not to support this local company.
This thread has totally confused the shit outta me.

This thread has totally confused the shit outta me. LOL I didn't know Kirin owned Monarch. I drink Moxie because my grandfather got me hooked on it when I was a toddler, and because of the history it has in my state. It's the state's official soft drink.

Also, it happens to play a large role in the speed by which such acts may or may not increase in number and effect. I'm not really a downer I'm just semi-realist; society and in a large part people, are shit. Making retardly large progress as everyone buying natural and/or buying small brands in such a vast system is a bleak dream. Travel to the south, the west, the midwest and you'll surely realize any natural utopia isn't feasible. Sure you can rant and rave and change a few people into buying a few less large name brands and start growing F*CKING tomatoes in their yard, but in the end the systems still wins. If the shit beats Jesus, Cezar Chavez, and Ralph Nader it can surely beat you. You're contribution seems paltry because it F*CKING is. One man, in the small state of Maine vs large hoards in large cities in large states. Plus I find no reason to go out and spend 5 bucks on a bag of natural, small time grown potato chips than $2.50 for the large brand Lays, not matter what F*CKING health benefits I may or may not receive; That's an extra 2.50 that I can spend on Debbie down the street to suck my dick. That local soda now makes me wanna go out and get some Faygo. wooop woop woop woop Oh and while I'm still on my morning dystopian-nesc rant, F*CK fair trade and F*CK Free Willy.
