LOL yeah a lot of those songs (all?) use the same basic chord progressions. Nice find!
Here's the original:

Re: 4 Chords
Yeah, this is mainly why I don't listen to radio anymore. One thing I learned when I started studying in music 2 years ago is the more you learn about music, the less music you like.
I still enjoy 4-chord songs, the particular chords are chosen because they work.

Re: 4 Chords
Well, I gotta say that it's not mainly because it's 4 chords actually... songs on radio are just totally badly worked, and really poor in music vocabulary.
Can't really blame the number of chords since it doesn't really change anything in music really. Just for example : Impressions by John Coltrane, one of the best jazz standards for soloing has actually 2 chords : D-7 and Eb-7 with the usual AABA form.
Yeah, it's not the amount of chords - a lot of songs use very few chords and are actually quite good.

Hey some of those songs were really good, like country roads, let it be, no woman no cry, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, otherside, and of course bird plane XD

Re: 4 Chords
That's pretty awesome. Even though it's sadly true, there's still some really good songs in there. So, whether or not it's sad, it works for some people really well and makes memorable songs.
If you listened, they were talking about POP songs. so it's not only that some songs are made with those chords in mind, but also that is the music MOST people enjoy. we wouldn't listen to it and buy the records if we didn't like it.

Re: 4 Chords
Well, they are in different keys at least. ♥ those chords. I also enjoy the pattern: I III IV V ♭I I. At least I think that's it.
I would agree with LeCoq though -- the more you learn the less you like.

It's always fun to bring this up to people who say they love and understand music. And then get mad at you when you let them know their favorite "artists" use the same progressions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Re: 4 Chords
I have no clue concerning the fundamentals of music and This Blew My Mind. Maybe thats why I thought almost every pop song on the radio for the last 10 years was made by some no talent ass clown and sounded like the same song. This is one of the most interesting post ive ever read. And Your sig is full of lols too.
