Re: 9/11 Remembrance thread
I was in 3rd grade. All I remember was my mom frantically picking me up from school and rushing back to the house and turning the news on.

Re: 9/11 Remembrance thread
I was a soph sitting in chemistry class and they announced over the intercom for all teachers to turn on the tvs, didnt believe it at first until I got home. There were marines all over the base with big guns knocking on our doors making sure we were all ok. My pops was stationed at MCAS Beaufort SC. I will never forget it

Re: 9/11 Remembrance thread
I was asleep in bed. My wife came in and told me that some planes had blah blah blah. I was like, whatev', then rolled back over and went back to sleep. She came in a bit later and said another one hit. I was like, whatev', then rolled back over and went back to sleep. It was when she told me a third one had hit was when I got concerned, that's when I got up and started planning my defense strategy in the case of an all out attack. (Which I knew wouldn't happen, in the back of my mind, because too many people have guns in the good ole USA.) I think the best 9/11 post I've seen today was by Angry Kitten, it said: (on Facebook) Quote: Happy 9/11 Day! Man, 10 years later and there's still a 50% chance of being killed in a terrorist attack at any given moment. I for one am glad freedom has been so willingly traded for an illusion of security. Which is pretty much spot on. So, Happy 9/11 day!

Re: 9/11 Remembrance thread
I had been out of high school for almost a year. A friend and I had moved to the city the night prior. I woke up early and poured some captain crunch and turned on the television. Tuned the rabbit ears and started watching just after the first plane hit. I was supposed to go out and look for a job that day but I ended up watching the news all day long. I seen the second plane hit and was like, "WTF." I said it so loud my roommate woke up.
I knew that after that things would change.

Re: 9/11 Remembrance thread
I was actually like like 12 years old in 7th grade science class. The principal spoke over the intercom in the middle of the lecture and said "I'm sure that you're all aware at this point of the attacks that have happened on the world trade center in New York. Teachers, please allow any concerned students to call home." The bitch of a teacher didn't even let us turn the tv on to watch what was going on like every other class was able to do, so I ended up not having a clue what attacks they were talking about until I got home from school and saw my parents glued to the tv and I saw for myself both towers aflame, and then, sadly, the footage of the collapses. Surreal day. I didn't understand the gravity of the situation until much later.

Deep respect for those first responders that didnt think twice about going in to try and save people from the buildings and gave up their life
