you can redownload ct and your user name and password will still get you in. as for O/S that is a personal pref. just make sure you get the right O/S there are 32bit and 64bit it depends on your chips set and mother board

Get 7, download steam, install CSS,

But what games do you still paly that arent compatible with Win7? all the ones on the market as far as im aware work with Win7 (even if they dont say so on the box).

besides, Microsoft has stopped supporting Xp and Windows 8 is already in the works.

64bit 7. No reason to get 32 bit unless you are ALREADY AWARE of in incompatibility between something you use frequently and 64bit. I've had windows 7 64 bit since it came out and i have not had a problem whatsoever.

It's time to make the move from XP :) XP was 10 years old this week!

Windows 7 64bit w/ SP1, hands down.

DirectX in Windows 7 is better, so you'll get better performance out of good video cards, and multicore support is WAY better so you'll get better performance out of a multi-core CPU.

The 64 bit version is really solid. I haven't had any problems with it since I've had it.

Windows 7 without a doubt. Many games, or programs in general aren't even including XP anymore. Meaning new games won't work on XP. On top of that, it has many more features, it way faster, and runs so much smoother.

64 bit is not really necessary unless you do plan on using more than 4 GB of Ram, in which case it is a must have. It has some problems with some versions of Symantech security and some p2p protection programs (like peerguardian), and there are some issues with random programs which you may never touch. There are solutions (which are not convenient) of course.

Windows 7 to Windows Xp is what Windows 98se is to Windows 95.

Right now I don't see any consumer-level 128bit CPUs hitting the market soon, so probably not lol.

And yeah. 64 bit isn't necessary, but check this out. If i said that you could only eat 3 meals a day for the next 2 years, - but could put as much as you could fit on the plate, would you take a small plate or a much, much bigger plate? Keep in mind that in this example, the much bigger plate does not weigh more or takes up any more space/resources. On most days, you may be okay with the size of the meals you could fit on the small plate. But what if you want a big-ass meal? Too bad :P REINSTALL WINDOWS lol

I don't know why anyone would choose 32bit now over 64bit. With the very well-done "compatibility" modes, I don't think 64bit can't do something that 32bit can, unless it's something super, SUPER legacy. In which case you should still be on Win98.

And yes, it's been confirmed that BF3 will not run on XP. Pretty soon, all publishers will follow suit.
