Post Anyone here into making cars go fast?
I haven't seen really any discussion from folks on here about cars/performance/turbos/big blocks, so I'm curious as to how many of you guys are into high performance stuff as a hobby...

If you are, share some if your car with the community, regardless of whether or not you've done anything to it.

I'll start -

1990 240sx. Stock SOHC engine, Automatic trans. <--- Bought this way for $500, didn't even bother starting it up

GTFO:

Get some:

How it is now: "stock" DOHC engine (as in the KA engine, not some faggy SR shit), swapped in 5 speed, fully built internals (wiseco/eagle/arp/clevite), bored, decked, balanced, blueprinted, clearances set, Turbonetics 60 trim stage 3 compressor

But then I was like:

And then I was like:

But now I'm like:

No dyno yet, waiting for the cool weather. Right now on 12psi the butt-dyno says about 320whp or so. Will be running 17-20psi once I get suspension/something other than an open rear differential.

20 pounds of boost? That thing is going to scream. What's the break in on an engine like that? I have some
Turbo install experience but pretty much only on German autos. My next project when I get the money/storage/time is a stage 2 on my VR6 jetta GLX.

I was hardcore into VW's, but went American and v8. I have a Chrysler 300 with the 5.7 hemi in it now, I'll post pics when I get my wheels on later in the week.

Yeah, 20lbs will be nuts. With THIS chassis, I want to have 400whp which will be very possible with this setup even on some loose timings. I could get 400whp with this current level of boost on e85 and like 30° of timing. When I get out of college (if I don't go after my masters) I'll move this engine over to a 97/98 240sx. Or maybe stick a 2jz/rb26 in it, I dunno - whatever I'll want BECAUSE I'LL HAVE MONEY. KAs are just so potent with boost. After i took it apart from the spun bearing and engine machining (got it re-honed) I ran low boost but wide heat cycles for about 500 miles before I would beat on it. 3rd gear pulls like in the video (except only half-ish throttle or so) are perfect for seating the rings with the addition of leaving it in vacuum to decelerate instead of putting it in neutral and letting the revs fall.

I used to be into cars. Had a 93 eagle talon with a 4g63 I was going to build up but joined the marine corps got manyrried and moved to California haha. I want to get a 240 and convert it to a s15 one of these days. Nice looking car. It's going to be a beast.

My first "turbo" car was a 96 gs-t. Shit was fun until I spun 2 bearings from it being a DSM. Pain in the asses to work on. My roommate's got a 6-bolt 96 stroked to 2.3 making almost 400whp now and it's sick.

240s are the simplest cars i have EVER worked on...

HAINT NO PICKUP TRUUUUCK

I like to make cars go fast, by stepping on the gas pedal. I let other people worry about what's under the hood, although at some point I'd love to learn.

Right, but I'd like to see your 400 on 25psi of boost lol. That and while a turbo V8 is extremely sexy (not as sexy as supercharged), it's also very costly. A turbo setup for a V8 would most likely exceed what I've put into my entire car/motor/turbo setup and I still have a power to weight ratio that'd be close to that of the big block turbo v8...

Teehee :)

well as for turbo thats not the way to go for v8 super is if you shop around you can get a kit for around 2500 new used can be found for alot less .no hooker not a pissing contest not saying mine is faster because ive never had it at the track, just saying the nostalgia, durability, and raw performance of a big block is unmatched by the japs comparing like model years .remember mine has no computer its all moving parts.plus i would love to hear a four banger loap and give you chills like an American big block.these jap cars remind me of a poland chain saw i had that the muffler fell off as soon as i could afford get a real saw i tossed it.

and yes thats the thing about these builds ive know lots of guys build these blow em up rebuild blow em up.by the time they find out yes they fly but for how long they have built a nice v8 once with no problems unless they try to go cheap and put nos on em.
