Post Server Location
Did it change? I noticed that all of the sudden I have really high ping, but only on n00bfest. All the other servers have stayed the same. I even tried fooling with my rates a bit, but nothing brings my ping down. Any ideas?

Server location hasn't changed. Ping will go up locally during the summer IIRC because of increased usage in your area. On comcast especially, because they have a much more limited bandwidth when compared to competitors like Verizon.

I have noticed this as well with comcast. It is fine in my area because all the students go home for the summer but my parents live in chicago and their comcast has been cutting in and out at randomly during peak times.

I'm using Quest right now, but it's probably the same deal. I'm getting perfectly fine ping on other servers, but on nub I'm getting over 100 normally. Sucks, but oh well what can ya do.

I've had an abnormal high ping from my home (over 100) for months now. I blame my ISP and various shitty routing tables.

Yeah sounds like isp issue to me all though kinda odd for it to only do it on noob, might be your isp having issues transfering data to and from the server location

You try doing a tracert in the cmd console? One of the hops might have a downed router causing unexpected delays.

Open up the console (start -> run -> type cmd and enter).
Enter the following command without the quotes:

"tracert 72.249.124.50 >c:\results.txt"

Post the results of that text file here.

It says access is denied, which is weird because I'm an admin and all of that.

Nothing comes up. But oh well, it doesn't really matter because my ping is back to it's normal 50-55.

Korg, that command saves the result in a text file in your hard drive's root folder. Open up my computer, and double click on c: and you will see a text file called "results.txt".

Post Re: Server Location
There are probably some routing issues going on. Sometimes, when new games are released, backbone providers try to prepare for it (good providers do, anyway...) but sometimes it's a fail mission. When Aion first came out, Time Warner had a huge issue with all their players having 10k+ pings because of some bad routing. This can happen any time, not just when a new game comes out. Though, it is more obvious when new games are released.
