It's 17 yrs ago (in the hbo show) when Robert Baratheon killed Rhaegar Targaryen for the Iron throne. Young Robert in the books is 6'6" and 260lbs of solid muscle which is what Renly looks like in the books. Thats my biggest complaint about the casting so far. They had to bumb the ages for the cast up from the books a couple years too. Eddard and Robert are 35ish and the kids are all about two years younger in the books. 11 yr old Sansa Stark and 13 yr old Dany Targaryen might have been a lil much for viewers.
15 yrs ago the Mad King (Aryes Targaryen) killed Eddard's Dad and Brother along with a bunch of other nobles and demanded that all the sons of those he killed show up for judgement. Lord Robert of the Baratheons,Lord Eddard of the Starks; lead by Lord Jon of the Arynns (the dead guy in episode 1), rose in rebellion rather than submit to the Mad Kings rule. And after two years of fighting Rhaegar was killed by Robert, the Targaryens army broke apart and Robert was now the king. Thats teh short version of the story, the books are really good, and recommend them to everyone.

Actually it got the green light 1 hr after episode one aired. Season two is gonna be 12 epsiodes instead of 10. If season 3 gets a green light it might have to be even longer, cause Storm of Swords is the biggest book (Twice as long as the whole Lord of the Rings Trilogy.)

SO in the last episode Kung Fu, Ned found out that the blonde haired prince is not really a baratheon cause he doesn't have blonde hair, with out spoiling too much, did the lanister bro and sis F*CK, have a kid and made it look like it was roberts?
