Is everyone ready to go fight in another country's war ? We are already bombing them. Soon enough we will be sending in troops on the ground. I must say I have only been in coming up on 5 yrs and I am coming up on leaving for my 3rd war deployment this shit is getting a bit ridiculous. What is everybody's thoughts on the situation in Libya ? Me personally I think we should only help very little let the other country's in the UN take the front on this one and spend more resources on helping Japan.

 Re: libya
Without getting into a political debate, IMO Obama wont let it come to an all out war like in Iraq. But the actions the US has taken are I think needed. With as much publicity this situation has caused and with as many people that have already died over there something had to be done.
Ion, do you know where your upcoming deployment is taking you?

 Re: libya
Yep I am going to Afghan in July. This time I will be with the army thou I am doing a IA tour with them. So I actually leave Washington in May to go through combat training and shit before I actually go boots on ground. This is my first one in a combat position last time I was in afghan I didn't have a gun just a tool box to fix my jet lol. We let the French take the spear already and they have already lost a jet. I don't know who's idea it was to let them lead the attack but they don't ever get shit right. All in all we are sending troops there eventually. Spec Op's guys are already there picking high pri targets for bombing runs which will be starting in the near future the big thing with this one is that they don't want to have civilian causality which in my opinion is inevitable. According to the news we have already launched 100+ tomahawk missiles. Muammar el-Qaddafi is acting like Sadam was and does not want to just back down peacefully. I agree I don't think this will turn into another really long drawn out war. We don't have enough troops to do it we are pushed thin as it is.

 Re: libya
Its probably needed and no one else will do it but i don't think America should try to be the police for the world. But face it the UN is useless, and we cant sit back and let him kill innocents.Besides this kind of turmoil is bad on the global economy.Sorry you guys have to pay for people being dumbasses. We should have snuffed that F*CKER 20 years ago.
But hey we have Obama, why worry?

 Re: libya
Unlike the old one, this time the entire world is behind us. Also unlike the old one, this time we have a legit reason - the people of Libya (except the mad dictator's army) crying for help. As long as the Prez keeps the promise about not taking the infantry over there, I see only a positive outcome.

I'm prepared to sit in the aircon playing WOW for the rest of my life. I have to keep getting maor gear and maor achievements.
Pizza, Burgers, Tacos, Fried Chicken, Coke, Pepsi, Sprite = Heart Attack.
It's either that or wait around until I get Cancer.
I'm American! I have no idea who the president is, I know nothing of your Wars! I have more pressing issues like constipation and acid reflux.

 Re: libya
It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If we don't go in. World: OMG the US does nothing while evil dictators kill innocent civilians, they are just as bad!.
If we go in: US Citizens: OMG, why the hell is the US in another war? Don't we have enough shit to deal with?
At least going into Libya helps our global image instead of hurting it like Iran and Iraq. I'm not sure if there's ANY country willing to stand up for the nutcase in Libya right now.

 Re: libya
The other countries are all looking at the U.S to actually lead the operating. They are not just backing us. They are looking up to us.

Might just be me, but, shouldn't we worry about fixing our own country before another?

 Re: libya
I suggest anyone interested in stuff like this take an International Relations and Theory class at their school, if they can. It will be an eye opener and you'll find that the way you see the actions taken by not only the U.S. but all countries will be drastically different.

Starting at the turn of the 20th Century, the U.S. Government has had a general policy of foreign intervention so long as it suited the purposes of those in power.
[Edit:] I take that back, our country has a lonnnnnnnnnnng history of F*CKING with people we have no business F*CKING with.

 Re: libya
LUL LUL
ok now for real...
Team america world police as a fictitious cartoon is really coming to fruition day by day. There was a time wehre you could sit back and do dick all in another country and it wouldnt' be shunned upon or anything. However, two things have changed since that time. 1. the culture of the United States and North america in general has reached ridiculous highs worldwide, including the extinction of many languages worldwide in exchange for english. and 2. the system of economics has become worldwide and thus waht happens in one country no longer just affects itself, instead it affects everyone. By Col. Stupid of libya doing what he has, oil prices rose instantly, causing higher gas prices. Oil being a main backer of the economic horse.
If the US does nothing in libya, there will be screams that echo rwanda. although rwanda wasn't touched as a result of operation gothic serpent and the resulting outcry of america public opinion on losing troops in africa.
If the US does something you're a) spreading your forces thinner, becasue the reality is, this is just the beginning, parts of the middle east are starting to reform themselves and revolts are inevitably giong to happen elsewhere. And b) even though its unintentional you're spreading your cultural effects even further through the middle east, which is troubling in the sense that as history has shown us empires only get so big before they come crashing down upon themselves.
Personally I think your entire country should get the F*CK outta dodge when it comes to the middle east and let it settle itself out in whatever way it deems fit. Iraq wasn't and still isn't your war to decide waht happens, if they choose another dictator that's on them. Afghanistan is the same way, you can only police the region for so long before you need to let it run itself.
Also Omega if you want some serious eye opening classes take ones that deal with ethnocentrism and the evolution and spreading of cultures (re: mainly north american at present day). Ive had a few professors who have altered my entire world view in less than 4 months.
