Wanted to see this one since i was a fan of 300 and Watchman since it was the same guy who did those two. Well I guess everyone has a bad one cause this was his! I went with two friends who loved it but they have the worst taste in movies so there opinion does not matter much but I couldn't take the slow awkward moments. Those were all the moments between the action scenes. Visually the movie was stunning and the action scenes were fantastic but the boring middle parts ruined it for me. The main girl in the movies was well worth the $6 to just stare at but they didn't always show her so I got bored. If you do go and see it, I highly recommend the digital version, the visuals will look a lot better and will be worth the money.

So I give it ** out of 5!

Heard it sucked, Rottentomatoes.com gave it a 21%...When I first saw the trailer last year I was blown away...disappointed that it bombed.

I was bored by watching the trailer itself :( I'll pass on this one.

so let me guess this straight shes a "teenager" who gets sent to an asylum,has 5 days till shes lobotomized so she dreams up the asylum being a strip club and from in that "dream" she makes another one where she fights robots, zombie nazis, Giant samurai, and dragons on a quest to find items so she wont be lobotomized. Im going to pass on this one.

Actually, there's a deeper, abstract meaning behind the movie. I know when I left the movie theatre, I also had a puzzled outlook on the movie and still had mix feelings about the movie, but if you're looking to view this movie purely out of the girls playing in it, then I can understand why people are hating it.

Throughout the timeline of her being in the asylum, it is heavily inferred that the girls in the asylum are being raped by the staff. She befriends 4 girls, and in efforts to maintain what sanity they have left, they conjure up a fantasy world where they can escape to while the staff go to work on them. I had issues with the mix of samurais, robots, and dragons, but once I realized that it's supposed to be a fantasy in which they escape to, it helped closed that gap in my head. It's really hard to appreciate something as abstract as SuckerPunch, when our minds want us to consistently look for something logical throughout. But once you can bypass all that, I had a better sense of appreciation of the visuals, sound (love the soundtrack) and the thought a person has to put in to decipher everything.

Oh I got all that, and it was still BORING!

Part of the problem with people understanding it fully is the director cutting multiple scenes to get it to a PG-13 rating and losing some explanation of what is going on. The DVD is supposed to have a directors cut, when it comes out, with some of the scenes put back into it.

I haven't seen Sucker Punch but with what I am reading of reactions, 'boring' might mean that there is a cerebral element that isn't catering to the average moviegoer. In other words, it might be more of a 'thinking' film than strictly for entertainment. Correct me if I'm wrong.

back on topic:
there's a lot of people associating this movie with "dreams within a dream" and "entering different worlds". this is far from the truth. i agree with what SEIJI says about their efforst to maintain what sanity they have left. They have a clear goal, and they are well aware of the what they need to accomplish to achieve their goal. To me, i just saw the girls as being overly IMAGINATIVE. kind of like little kids at a playground pretending to be super heroes and racing around in super fast vehicles(bicycles or big wheels).

like most out there, i agree the visuals were pretty awesome. one of the best looking dragon's i've seen. and again agreeing with SEIJI, i loved the music. however, if there was one thing that disappointed me, it would have to be the lack of tits and ass. TOO MUCH CLOTHING.

i wouldn't say it was a great movie, but i think it deserves a much better rating than what it has recieved on rotten tomatoes

I agree, Cpt. The only good parts were the visual and the action scenes. Everything in between was just... boring, and somewhat awkward.

Maybe 9 seconds of Baby Doll shifting her hips ever-so-slightly leading up to every action scene just sucked. I found myself mentally yelling, "ENOUGH WITH THE HIPS, SHOW ME PEOPLE EXPLODING!" :<

SEIJI hit it on the noise. and the orderly even hints at what hes going to do at the end when he asks her if shes in paradise.

If you look at this as a "thinking" movie and understand that its not going to be a strait forward action flick then its not a bad movie. I am going to have to agree with IMDB's voting system and the 15,000+ ppl that voted there and give it a 7/10.

and yea Roten tomatoes sucks when it comes to rating movies that fall outside the narrow scope of what soccer moms and 40 yr old dudes what to watch (no offense to our more seasoned members ;))

originally a 7/10 but it just didn't seem right because it wasn't sexy enough.
