You know what I say? Good for them. I've known gay dudes in the Navy here (Yeah -- insert jokes, whatever...), and they've all been some of the best F*CKIN' workers I have ever worked with. I don't really see why this is such a huge deal....

We had a bunch of lesbo's and 2 gay dudes one got kick out for smoking pot in my last command I can care less really just dont stick a gay dude in my area on the ship which I wont ever see again or as my roommate in the barracks and we are good.

What if you got stuck out on patrol with this openly gay man? What if it was just you and him at a guard post for 12 hours? What if they allow them to start getting married? Sharing benefits?

Gay dudes are no different than anyone else....they just like penises more than vaginas. I don't see anything wrong with letting them be who they are. And if they're allowed to share benefits the same as a straight person, good for them. Their partner should be no different than my wife, to be honest.

When youre in the shit and your leg just got blown off are you going to tell your squadmate whos gay to not touch you because of that? What if the best shot in your squad was gay? Holy shit I'm stupid. I never even knew gays/lesbians were banned from the military. While it may make some guys uncomfortable depending on where they sleep, there's no reason that they should have ever been banned.

They werent banned just couldnt be openly gay. Like wear a big ass rainbow and run around screaming im a HOMOSEXUAL.

I was talking to one of my seniors who re-enlisted about this and we both thought pretty much the same thing. If he's in good shape and can kill shit. I'm good with it. It's mainly going to be the immature 17-20 year olds that won't be able to handle it.

I don't see why people have a problem with gay people in the first place. You think if a man is openly gay around you, all of a sudden the gayness will rub off on you? People are signing up to get shot at and they're worried about the sexual prefference of the man fighting by their side? If they're gay so be it. That doesn't mean they should have to hide it.

1. no. If he watches my back and pulls his weight then he has every right to stand next to me. Just because hes gay doesnt mean when you put a gun in his hand hes going to paint it pink and dance with it.
2. I wouldnt care. We have a job to do and last time I checked I didnt see gays running in work screaming F*CK ME IVE BEEN HERE FOR HOURS.
3.Its his/her right as a human being to get married. If he/she is married then that person should as it is their spouse. The only thing holding back marriage is a bunch of republicans and crazy ass christians (lewl).

Nah, i pretty much agree with everyone else. If they can do there job and abide by the regulations....F*CK it let them join/stay in.

Joe's right though, I'm in the Navy too (Canadian Navy - insert jokes, whatever...) and we do work with gay people and I know some since the 3 years that I've been working in the CF, I didn't know about this law in the US though.

Of course for some, seeing gay people kissing or whatever they do is hard. I don't like watching 2 dude kissing. I hate it. But I still have no problem hanging out with gay people, one of my best friend is gay, he was really afraid to tell me this, why the F*CK would it change?

They have the right to serve, to work with us, be our teammate, and our friend. The Canadian Navy (and pretty sure the US Navy too) is a real big family. Help each other, they'll help you back. That's one good thing happening in your navy, congrats.
