Post This is really hilarious...
Copied this from a facebook link.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a east coast resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative:

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted fan,
Jim

LOL, funny and profound, but that doesn't keep this Jim guy from being a sarcastic asshole. Technically, all of the old testament Jewish laws were done away with for Christians as Christ was the lamb that washed away our need to adhere to those old laws (laws such as animal sacrifice, the no-work Sabbath, slavery, shellfish, etc). BUT, the laws that Jesus upheld are still valid to Christians today (I.E. homosexuality, blasphemy, the Ten Commandments, etc.) and should be followed. Clearly this Jim guy is at odds with Christian law in some way and is butthurt. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_16

Dr. Laura is an orthodox jew not a christian. I'm not up on my jewography so I don't know what old laws they have thrown out.

funny shit, Ive been proving Mormons wrong for a while myself, (my family is Mormon, when i left the church they had a bitch fit so i set out to prove them all confused and brainwashed.

ive argued such amazing points as-
If the Book of Mormon is true, then why has the Mormon church changed it? Examples are: 1 Nephi 11:21; 19:20; 20:1 and Alma 29:4. Compare these with the original Book of Mormon. (Gerald and Sandra Tanner have counted 3913 changes in the book of Mormon, excluding punctuation changes.)

How did Joseph Smith carry home the golden plates of the Book of Mormon, and how did the witnesses lift them so easily? (They weighed about 230 lbs. Gold, with a density of 19.3 weighs 1204.7 lbs. per cubic foot. The plates were 7" x 8" by about 6". See Articles of Faith, by Talmage, page 262, 34th ed.

If Moroni devoutly practiced the Mormon Gospel, why is he an angel now rather than a God? (mormons believe you become a god of your own planet if you practice Mormonism correctly.

Joseph Smith said that there are men living on the moon who dress like Quakers and live to be nearly 1000 years old. Since he was wrong about the moon, is it safe to trust him regarding the way to Heaven?

Why did the Nauvoo House not stand forever and ever? (Doc. & Cov. 124:56-60).

How did Nephi with a few men on a new continent build a temple like Solomon's while Solomon needed 163,300 workmen and seven years to build his temple? (1 Kings 5:13-18 and 2 Nephi 5:15-17).

and many more! ive shattered 18 mormons faith lol.

AND SHORTY PRABHU DEVA KICKS ASS!!!!

Funny, I had a little argument just the other day on the server with some random guy about the Melchizedek Priesthood. I was ordained when I was 19 or 20, he just couldn't believe that. Of course, after "full disclosure" - I promptly left the church and all the other whackos to do their own thing.

How is every time you post a blatant misinterpretation of what is actually going on?

I'm a F*CKING major in physics, engineering and composing and I can pick up literary rhetoric better than you. God dammit. Stop being so oblivious. It makes us look bad.

Edit:

To make this pertinent to the post, I am a firm believer that religion was created as a scare tactic to force people to conform. While it has had some positive effects (giving people hope, etc) I believe that the negative effects (the crusades, holding back science, smug oblivious people, etc) outweigh those benefits.

Aside from that section in Leviticus, where in the Bible does it say homosexuality is a sin?

I am christian and proud. Although my views on religion are a bit on the extreme side, I'm not a zealot.

Post Re: This is really hilarious...
The entire point of causing Homosexuality to be an abomination in Leviticus was entirely political in the sense that the Jewish priesthood didn't want their people following the practices of their neighbors, which included a cross-dressing ritual that involved a lot of latent homosexual overtones. It was around the time when the Jews were coming into their own, almost at the point where they decided that Yahweh was the 'one and only' god, before doing away with Elohim, which is a plural name and not a singular. The priesthood wanted to conform the jews to a specific prescription of behavior and to remain with their tribes as opposed to going out and hanging with their neighbors.
