I'm actually kinda pissed...I just spent $50 on one and for some reason, when I make my LCD TV my main display on HDMI the screen is out of place...wish I wouldve spent 5 to figure it out. VGA works though....weird

$50!?!?! I think I spent $15 after shipping on a pretty nice one. Used it for a month. Now it won't work on the new video card. I wonder if I can sell it. That's the only reason I was gonna buy these. Try to sell them each for $5 and see if it works out haha.

EDIT: I had to order them. I looked on craigslist in my area and people are selling them for $10-$25 a piece. So i'm sure I can make my $5 back plus some extra. If I can sell those for $10+, i'll sell my other nice one for a bit more.

Just make sure your resolution is set to 720p or 1080p AND that your TV's display mode is set something like Native. I had the same problem until I tweaked the settings on my TV. The only reason to use HDMI over VGA is if you want to have sound + video in one cable.

This is actually a known problem when using LCD TVs/DLPs as pc monitors. You have to play around with the "overscan compensation" setting in your graphics card control panel.

If it's an nvidia 8800 series, overscan compensation is not supported, so you have to do a workaround - http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvid ... faqid=2064

Some rule of thumb when buying HDMI cables; any HDMI cable over $10 is a total ripoff. I got one at radioshack for $5, and it does everything that a "$50" HDMI cable does. All that refresh rate bullshit is a lie.

i got a friend working part time at future shop. he get's accessories at cost +10% so i paid $3 for an HDMI cable and got change back. win!

EDIT: also, at retail it was like $50 so you can see the profit they make selling just one of them.

Never buy cables at Future Shop or Best Buy or any large chain! The markup is incredable and the companies make mad profits from it. I payed $12 for mine but it's 15 feet long, it was the only one they had longer then 6 feet at the time.
