Post North Korea sinks S. Korean naval vessel with torpedo
The proof is revealed and, what do you know, N. Korea denies it STILL! We have 29,000 U.S. armed service members in S. Korea and right over the DMZ is a looney dictator who possesses nukes and engages in acts of war such as this. That worries me.

From BBC News:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/world/asia_p ... 129703.stm

A North Korean submarine's torpedo sank a South Korean navy ship on 26 March causing the deaths of 46 sailors, an international report has found. Investigators said they had discovered part of the torpedo on the sea floor and it carried lettering that matched a North Korean design.

Pyongyang rejected the claim as a "fabrication", South Korea's Yonhap agency reported.

It said the North threatened war if sanctions were imposed by the South.

But South Korean President Lee Myung-bak pledged to take "stern action" against the North.

The attack demonstrates a total indifference to human life and a blatant disregard of international obligations

William Hague, UK Foreign Secretary

The White House described the sinking of the ship as an "act of aggression" by North Korea that challenged peace.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the report was "deeply troubling".

Pyongyang said it would send its own inspection team the South to " verify material evidence" behind the accusation.

A North Korean defence spokesman said the country would "respond to reckless countermeasure with an all-out war of justice", the state KCNA news agency reported.

The Cheonan went down near the disputed inter-Korean maritime border, raising tension between the two nations, which technically remain at war.

The shattered wreck of the 1,200-tonne gunboat was later winched to the surface, in two pieces, for examination. The investigation was led by experts from the US, Australia, Britain and Sweden.

eh, this should be fun. It's funny how the US considers this "an act of aggression" instead of an "act of war." I think politics is hilarious and it'll be interesting how China will respond and how long they will stand behind their crazy little cousin. That guy is losing his mind and he wants something to happen before he dies, if the world (especially China and the US) lets him get away with this attack and whatever else he has planned then the world is a lot stupider than I thought.

This is not the first time since the end of the Korean war that North Korea has done something like this. It has actually happened about a dozen times, and just like all the others there will be no escalation by the South simply because the North has nukes and Kim Jong Il is not afraid to use them. Whatever the response is it will be measured and more than likely it will be in the form of economic sanctions.

Reality is that they cannot afford to get into an open ended military conflict, if for no other reason than the fact that there will be more than a few mushroom clouds dotting the Korean peninsula if they do.

Solution: about 200 well-placed tomahawk cruise missiles.

"It said the North threatened war if sanctions were imposed by the South."

So how about F*CK the N. Koreans if they're willing to threaten war over something such as sanctions. War should be a last resort; something done in times of attack, not something done in response to overwhelming international support of economic sanctions. The N. Koreans are warmongers and have the worst case of nationalist-little-big-man complex I've ever seen. Something has got to give.

They have been playing that cat N mouse game for over half a century, North K, is not going to do shit unless they KNOW for a fact china will back them....and china seems to take a step away from them every year.

I doubt this will be settled anytime soon, and I'm sure once again no progress will continue in the talks.

Oh and theres no targets for missles to hit in N.korea, their shit is underground and their strength is in their population, not their technology. But yeah It's the same shit I heard when i was over there, i doubt it will lead to war.

It's what they do, it's like that one F*CK on the corner who is "O.G." and says he'll do shit, 90% of the time he won't do shit....its that 10% you have to watch for.

I don't think nuclear strike upon them is a plausible option, purely without given reason just look at the geographical positioning of the country and the countries around it and their takes on the situation.

I fear a conflict with them more than an Iran with nukes, for several reasons.

S. Korea has so much to lose (a budding, booming economy, a large, free population, and bragging rights over the North for having 1,000,000X the quality of life) and N. Korea has nothing in comparison to the south to lose. The north is seething at the opportunity to show the world how "powerfully self-sufficient" they are and how well they've prepared for war, and the world looks at them like they're F*CKING loony-tunes (and rightfully so). If there is any country in the world that has earned the title of "warmongering nation," it'd be N. Korea, NOT the U.S. South Korea would never risk starting a war with the north, and I'm sure that has to do with how westernized and civilized they've become... and the fact they're not F*CKING communist. N. Korea is drifting insanely far into the realm of international isolation and they're doing nothing to repair it.

I don't see nuclear war on the horizon with N. Korea. What I absolutely do see is a war similar in scope to the war seen in the videogame "Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction."

What Kim Jong doesn't seem to understand is he's surrounded. He has Russia to the North, China to the West, Japan to the East, and South Korea to the South. He can talk all big and act like he's gonna conquer the world, but he knows he would get his ass kicked if he even tried to start an actual war.

True, but lately the population has been getting pissed. Nkorea has no food to feed anyone. Recently i read an article about how even Nkorea military personnel have been defecting and saying there is no food to feed the soldiers. I also agree that nothing will happen. They sent cells of commandos to the Skorean presidential palace intent on killing the president ffs. All of them died except one out of 29. nothing really happened after it.

Technology wise they are fucked. They just intercepted a shipment of arms from Iran....thats a great crowd to be linked with. Skorea would turn them into a parking lot, but at a very large expense. Nkorea would fight dirtier then the japanese in WW2, and they were bad mofos.

It'd be great to nuke the Middle-east...Only then we'd get fucked by Asia and Russia.

It's beautiful to see, that we as people, view nuking a whole population away as a just solution.

I'm not anti-nuke, it's just I hate the retarded thought that since we have the technology it's ALWAYS a viable option, along with the quick resolution is makes it comes with the cost of human lives (alot of them) that aren't even part of the F*CKING problem which is sicking to see the massing of the population into one evil figure because some bad cats decide to be cunts. Though tactical nukes on Iranian nuclear facilities would be F*CKING spectacular...and very F*CKING ironic.

Hell nuking those countries would solve the problem. Muslims are worthless, just a national problem. The gooks in North Korea aren't going to stop any time soon...Although for Korea I don't think we should nuke them, just shut down their shitty government completely.
