Why shouldn't it?
Never touched the stuff myself, but it APPEARS to be less harmful to your body than cigarettes or alcohol. IF!!!!!, you abuse them.

I bet it passes... Doubt it, I'd be more certain it would pass if their gay marriage shit went through but surprisingly that didn't.

 Re: Cali to Legalize Pot!
It probably will pass. If us stoners remember the right day. What a lot of people don't know about cali is that almost all but the bay area is conservative. (V more for evidence. not entertaining) http://articles.sfgate.com/2004-11-07/n ... ono-countyWe really need to push it if this is going to pass. The News papers have been printing more "Marijuana related violence".

Also, not to be a debbie downer, but its still illegal in the US, regardless of what California decides to do. (Personally, I think it should be up to the states)

 Re: Cali to Legalize Pot!
Obama has instructed DOJ to not enforce fed laws against medicinal, we shall see if the same would go for "legalized & taxed"
If california can't vote in favor of gay marriage, which would have almost zero effect on your average californian, what makes anyone thinks that they'll pass a marijuana law? Though the major metro areas are birthing places of liberals & libertarians, the rest of the state is filled with mind-controlled religious wackos.
Cali won't be the state where it happens first. My lovely Oregon will probably legalize before Cali.

 Re: Cali to Legalize Pot!
It looks like its already decriminalized ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Places_tha ... ted_States) so if its anything like it was in Massachusetts, they'll just get it confiscated and a summary offense, whats the difference in the proposed status, complete legalization for any amount?

Yeah, so it's like a hefty speeding ticket. You can go 80mph 90% of the time, but you'll get caught once or twice & slapped on the wrist. That link pointed to this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis_in_Oregon"From 1999 through 2005, the ratio of Oregonians using cannabis outpaced the general United States population by 32–45%. " Even though Portland gets consistently rated "most depressing", nobody goes all the way to off themselves because they're enjoying some of the finest quality yesca anywhere :D

If it passes, maybe Steven Harper or whoever the next Prime Minister is will take their head out of their ass and realize that marijuana isn't the Devil's plant.

Read this: http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/factsmyths/ wrote: Fact: Moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. As a result, the risk of serious lung damage should be lower in marijuana smokers. There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana, and in a large study presented to the American Thoracic Society in 2006, even heavy users of smoked marijuana were found not to have any increased risk of lung cancer. Unlike heavy tobacco smokers, heavy marijuana smokers exhibit no obstruction of the lung's small airway. That indicates that people will not develop emphysema from smoking marijuana.
While I'm not a pothead, I believe that marijuana should be legalized. Stereotypical Hollywood lazy-potheads take credibility away from what would otherwise be a very sound argument. I've seen the good it can do first-hand. When my dad was dying and undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment for lymphoma/adrenal cancer, smoking pot was the only thing that actually worked for him. He was taking morphine, methadone, fentanyl, etc -- some of the heaviest painkillers that exist. Fentanyl is HUNDREDS of times more powerful than HEROIN. A single dose can kill a person in minutes if they're not already heavily medicated on opiates. Smoking pot lifted his mood away from depression (the whole "knowing he was dying" thing really puts a damper on being happy), and helped his appetite. He couldn't eat anything because the chemotherapy made him so sick. This may sound funny, but I'm dead serious: the munchies helped him survive as long as he did. Smoking pot both added length and quality to the last part of his life. He went from a 5'11" 225lb ex-Marine, put-you-in-a-coma-with-one-punch guy, to what looked like a Holocaust survivor. The only reason he lived as long as he did is because he smoked marijuana. If it weren't for pot, he wouldn't have been alive when I bought my house, and that day was a huge victory for him when he saw first-hand that he raised someone who turned out to be a productive, successful member of society. State, I love you bro, but don't talk about shit you don't know anything about. Until you have first-hand experience with it, shut the hell up. Marijuana legalization is one of those things that I feel very, very strongly about. Something that does so much good shouldn't be illegal.

 Re: Cali to Legalize Pot!
it can also be eaten, which is even safer, although it gives a different high. i have only eaten it a few times, but i believe i prefer the high of smoking. i have a semi-cheap vaporizer, but it is far from smokeless. i suppose there is a good chance i could be using it wrong and getting it too hot, cause the mother F*CKER came with zero directions. it's hard to tell if it's "working" though when there is no smoke. makes me think i'm just sucking in plain ol' air.
and to fomenta's point, and sorry to add political slander, the fact that states can't decide these types of things and that there are these types of federal laws proves that we have lost so much of our freedom already from when this country was founded.
