Don't worry. Time/nature/god/whatever will not allow the higgs boson to be discovered. The thing will continue to fail, because all timelines where it works get wiped out.

So it's just other dimensions of our world getting wiped out. The one we're conscious of will continue on, because the thing will never work in this one.

As far as from what I know about physics, yes there is a probability, but it is not likely to cause an issue due to the fact that they are recreating circumstances that occur in the universe frequently with no ill effects. Interesting stuff.

Unless you guys have a degree in physics this machine wont mean shit to you. It is well beyond most of your mathematical comprehensions. It's well beyond mine and I'm double majoring mech-e and physics. At this point all it is a test. This could -- xx years down the road, lead to some crazy shit. The possibilities being explored here could bring about new forms of energy, transportation, etc. It could redefine many aspects of physics and astrophysics. But all it is right now is a test, the information we get from this cannot be utilized for awhile.

Also, don't get into the multiuniverse string theory bullshit. I will seriously want to cut your throat. Believing in string theory is like believing in santa claus.

lol quantum mechanics is great but some physicists are now working on the "unified theory" of physics aka string theory to attempt to make a mathematical theory to explain large and small events all in one... and hooker youre ugly

the collidor really is for two purposes.. first an attempt to recreate similar conditions to the big bang by mashing particles together to show it couldve happened, and two this thing opens up a hell of a doorway into energy issues worldwide. two particles mashing together creates a hell of a lot of energy (although it takes a lot as well) but think of nuclear fusion and this tihng may one day lead to it.

i wouldnt worry about a black hole either TBH by the time anyone could even figureout what was giong on it would be over.. gonna be awesome when they finally release findings from this massive project

The one at CERN is just the biggest one yet, but theoretically.... anything capable of smashing particles together at 99.999% the speed of light is potentially capable of creating a black hole.

Why worry about it, though? If it creates a black hole, it'll be so powerful that it'll almost instantly destroy earth. You probably won't even realize what happened.
