Post I think I'm in love.
Finally, I found a headset that may be just what I'm looking for.

F*CK USB driven headsets. I'm going back to jacks.

$250 headset made by a company I've never heard of. Sounds like a rock solid purchase to me.

If you're going to overpay for a headset, might as well get a Sennheiser.

Steelseries also just came out with their Serbia v2's and the 7H's are OTW.

lol gridiron has been talking about that headset for months.

i suggest reading the forums because there were a lot of complaints mainly about the quality of their products.

Also, that headset is very old, they havent updated their product line in years other than cosmetic changes.

Go with Sennheiser, they are top of line and sell a couple gaming headsets. You'd probably be most interested in this one:

http://www.sennheiserusa.com/private_he ... ard_502141

it uses a 3.5 mm jack too

This is the one I use:

http://www.sennheiserusa.com/private_he ... nes_005342

but it's for audiophiles not gamers. It has a 6.3 mm jack :D

EDIT: DAMMIT JFOBP, you just had to swoop in and post while i was typing didnt you? At least great minds think alike.

I made a similar decision to buy the Triton AxPro 5.1 headset. It worked great for the first 10 minutes, but then my who head was hurting so bad, I haven't touched it in months. The sound quality was awesome (true 5.1, especially great playing bluray) but the pain and discomfort simply wasn't worth it.

In comparison, I use my Sennheiser HD555 when I'm watching movies or when I feel like trying hard in CS. It's not exactly great for games but for everything else, the sound quality is excellent (even better than the AxPro true 5.1 dolby digital) and the comfort level is just as great. That's one purchase I will never regret. I've had it for about 4 years now and works as great as ever.

yep the HD 555s are the shit!!! I can wear them all day, no problems. They suck ass for CS. Either that or Source is more fucked up than I thought.

You have actually heard of these guys before. Not directly, though.

They did work for the Xbox 360, Apple, and many other major companies. They're really a well-respected company. The headset itself is only $120 or so, the Amp is what costs the most money. From what I've seen, they are pretty bad-ass. They are sturdy, feel great for a long time usage, and have the best sound people have heard so far. People are putting them up against Sennheiser. The problem with the Sennheiser headsets are terrible bass levels and response. Not to mention, the 350 doesn't look sturdy at all. I want something that thumps hard, and has some good positional accuracy/surround sound without needing a USB cord to do so.

Acid, have you look at this :

http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169420200/categoryId.35096300

I've only bought a mouse from them before, so I can't vouch for the sound quality, but their mice are legit so you might want to check it out.

F*CK you montreal. Razer mice suck dicks and are awful. If you're going with brand loyalty get the logitech g35s. They're usb driven, but the bass is awesome.

And Chrisk, acid doesn't know what women look like. The only mother he knows is a mother board.

Ignorant statement about Razer mice.

Thank you Goodkat. Honestly, since I bought my Razer Krait a couple years ago, I have had no problems with it.

Post Re: I think I'm in love.
The only things I'm looking for in a gaming headset are:

1) Something that can withstand some abuse. Cat playing with the cord, rolling over the cord with my chair, boom mic getting sat on, etc.
2) Not totally shitty sound/mic quality.
3) Comfy for >2 hrs.

I would easily spend $250 for a gaming headset that meets those factors. Good thing is, up to now, I've found that in the $60 Plantronics i'm using.

Best of luck in your headset search.

Been using these headphones for years. Had the ones the same company made before it too. Comfortable, good sound quality, and cheaper than most. It is a usb headset though.

Also, been using a razer cooperhead for 3+ years now. Same mouse and never had a problem with it. Added the pro-mod weights to it. I am thinking about going to the deathadder soon though.

Throwing in another positive for the hd555.
Those things are wallhax on, vision are you sure you're setting it to headphones in the settings?
Also, I sent in my old sennheiser pair (forgot model) and they gave me $30 as a rebate.
