I remember back in the day when steam was a POS system.

I think I have a 7dig now, but I have an account that I checked awhile ago that's a six dig. I just remember friends NEVER working, and all my servers disappearing randomly when I was trying to play 1.6/dod.

What brought this up you might ask?

Today's steam update "Really fixed offline mode."
I love how they've got a sense of humor now, and I was reminiscing about how much dick they used to suck.

I remember when it first came out, we were all afraid that they were going to basically turn our computers into a giant private p2p network.

Now in my opinion it's quietly become the best thing for online gaming (saving me money, making new games easily accessible, etc) since, well, online gaming.

I really wish I would've gotten into CS sooner.. either way I think I probably would've been one of those who didn't update from WON to Steam right away and then raged later if I didn't get a 4/5 dig. It's just a number.. but still.

I never really had a problem with Steam, other than the fact that if I knew I wasn't going to have internet and I wanted to play with some bots in CZ or something when I was really bored, I would have to log into offline mode first with internet.. because it wouldn't let me log into offline mode without internet?.. If I forgot - there would be no fy_iceworld with cheater bots for me.

Granted, it has come a LOOOOOOOOONG way since its the beta/initial release. There was more down time than play time, and VAC was a bitch. Steam still pisses me off though. I can't add any favourites, and on the off time when steam is being fugly, I can't even play any games. Though I really like the store that they have, and I like that all my updates and such are automatic. Updates without downtime are a plus too

i had no clue that steamid #'s were so sought after till I started playing again on n00bfest. made me feel like an old fart.

I beta tested steam for over a year using a 4 dig that i can no longer recover.But i still have a 5 that Brand recovered for me.I used to be bad about having multiple emails and forgetting the passwords and shit.I own 5 legit box copies of cs.I had problems when steam went live with it saying someone was using my key so i just kept buying new copies.

I waited a while to switch from Won, but the low digits didn't get fancy until a bit later where everyone wanted to buy 4-5 digs to show off.

Steam still sucks. The favorites section works like they are testing randomization. Either that, or Steam is self aware and gets mood swings like Ginzu.

Hooker i know what you mean. IT SUCKED ASS when I was playing 1.6DoD. thing is servers STILL disapear off favs and friends never works.

i just always have to add servers to my favorites outside of the game UI. if i add from windows desktop it works every time.

yes, steam has glitches still, but you guys are being so over critical. there is nothing else like steam out there. it is the reason online pc gaming grew into such a huge market, and cs is the reason steam exists.

There was a glitch with steamfriends for awhile where you can send someone a wall of text while they were in game and it would crash their game LOL!

LOL I remember that so well... I want STEAM games back like checkers and tic-tac-toe!
