seriously though, what insight can you give us on that place? i've always wondered what it was like. i'm less interested in this case, than i am how stuff happens in psych hospitals.

Well if you have ever heard stories about psych wards then you pretty much have seen it. We have 3 units, like one for the actual crazy crazy people, one for depressed and overdose patients, and then one for old people (65+).

Since ours is in the actual hospital it is considered a short-term place, but we take patients that have to go to court and be judged to be placed in a long term facility. For instance, the guy that was doing all of the sex shit is FORCED to stay in the hospital until he appears in court. There is no way for him to get out, where as other patients can leave on their own.

But mainly all the patients have their own rooms with joining bathrooms, so one bathroom for 2 rooms. And we have 2 rooms that 2 beds in each room so they have a roommate (in these rooms you must be the same sex). But mainly the patients can roam around do as they please as long as they don't cause problems. There is a day room that has a TV and board games. Everyday the patients have to go to therapy sessions and talk (if they are able). Most of the patients that are really crazy don't attend group because they will just cause more problems.

Overall it is a really interesting job. You'd be surprised at how psychotic some people are. And, yes we have to fight patients sometimes.

lul.. i considered working in a psych ward at the end of my schooling for about........ 15 minutes but as brand says some people you just wouldnt believe how crazy they actualy are.

I only work there when they need me. So I work like every other week up there, and I work for a Cardiac surgeon full time so it's a nice change of pace to work with crazies. It's a job I actually enjoy (for the most part)...most laid back place if people aren't acting fools.
