Anyone every hear of, or participate in the CMP?

I'm going tonight for class and tomorrow for shooting. Learning to make those across-the-map shots in real life.

I'm thinking about entering a 3 gun shoot this summer. They have them all over and they look fun as hell. I know I will get my ass handed to me but it would be worth the rush.

Nah but looks kinda interesting, i've been looking for something to get involved in miss my recon buddies and regular weapon play. Don't get to the range very often with my good ole sig. Looks like the only programs in my area are rotc stuff.

The cool thing about this CMP program is, I don't need to own a gun.

I paid $30 tonight, which covers the 3 hour class tonight, ammo for tomorrow, and match usage of the range.

i'll be using a range-owned M1 Garand.

The F*CKING shitty thing is, tonight as we were going thru dry fire exercises with drilled out rounds, I discovered that the M1 is almost impossible to operate effectively on a target range left handed. I have to F*CK up my stance to load the goddamn thing. Good news is, I get to avoid the dreaded "Garand Thumb" because I must load 2-handed.

This makes my resolve to buy a lefty-specific bolt action .308 even greater.
