Post PZ Global warming
I've had no idea where to post this so I did it here:

Something that you have always suspected is true: Global warming is not real.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... nised.html

Head scientist says no evidence of global warming since 1995, meaning the world actually hasn't been warming.

Discuss how mad you are now, especially the English and Canadian members.

Post Re: PZ Global warming
I cared about global warming when i was a teen because i felt it was one more thing that the grown ups were F*CKING up and leaving for us to fix but I've been over it for quite some time.

I've never taken the stance of cutting back the use of fossil fuels because anyone who understands the world economy and human nature, particularly greed, would know that this will be impossible. The rest of the world is becoming industrialized, mainly China and India. They have no reason to cut back the use of fossil fuels as it will hurt their growth substantially.

I'd rather we just use them up and move on to cleaner energy sources as quickly as possible.

I think this whole big uproar about global warming is really going to hurt the credibility of the scientific community when something that really is a potential threat occurs, say world-wide food shortages and over-population.

Nature is ever changing and at times can be very violent. It's in our best interest to enjoy the relative calm right now as it's not always going to be like this.

I think that a bigger concern than global warming is the supply of clean drinking water which is rapidly shrinking but no one really talks about that...

If people only knew how much polution and money it takes to make things like solar
panels and these massive battries for cars, they would do the same thing do. Not give a rats ass. I bought a v8 truck because I wanted to own a gas guzzling land monster before liberal enviromentalist vaginas make car companys stop production because some polar bear 2000 miles away didn't have lunch. People are slowly beginning to wake up to it tho.

Eventually, this is where we will be, and Fusion power will be following shortly. Fossil fuels won't go quietly, but they will.

In the end people will go with whatever is cheaper, because money is what runs this world. When solar is cheaper than fossil fuels, regardless of weather or not its convenient, people will willingly and happily switch.

I believe Japan is due to launch the first Solar-Based Solar Power (SBSP) plant within 2030. The advantage these is they can be positioned in a high of geosynchronous orbit that allows for 24 hour solar energy. Then batteries aren't required like solar panels that are based on earth except for back-up. The disadvantage being its new technology and obviously expensive. Technology gets cheaper with time and as manufacturing base catches up. Its the forefront of technology that the US should be leading just like the race to the moon.

I've always known that global warming was a scam. Another ploy by the so called illuminated ones, resulting in things like the carbon tax, an orwellian initiative. Anyhow....

The appropriate term is "climate change," as it prevents the stupid, ignorant people who are saying that climate change is a scam or a publicity stunt from using the incorrect term (global warming) to their advantage (trying to say that because the U.S. just got snowed on, there is no climate change). Climate change has been proven, and its link to emissions is well established. Most scientists around the globe agree on this fact. You people can either be ignorant, stupid Americans (sometimes I'm ashamed of my own people) by ignoring the fact that we're increasing the size of our carbon footprints exponentially by the day as well as increasing the amount of greenhouse gasses exponentially by the day, or wise up and recognize the problem we're presenting to future generations. That being said, humans are not completely to blame for climate change. Natural elements are at work in changing the world's climates, which is something that we can do little about.

BRB omega doesn't read the news, or the convient link where the lead ICPP (THE UN) scientist said there was no global warming statistically since 1995. The same scientist who had been caught for creating false/deleting data to support false global warming claims.

I just triple face palmed at this entire thread lol.... maybe giggled a bit..

rule number 1 when dealing with scientific studies, Never listen to the media, Period, No news, No papers, Read it from its source. Which obviously with global warming, climate change whateverthefuckyouwannacallit didn't happen. News people in general don't contain the knowledge base nore the intellectual capacity to ever understand research studies in their entirety. That's the first and main point that's always made in any professional program.

Number 2: Global warming was teh single most retarded concept ever conceived by man. It implies that in 100 years we have done and will do damage to this earth that hasn't been done in over 6 billion years by any other species. It gives us this self of importance that clearly doens't need to be there. When in fact in retrospect we're an ant making our way through a large dark closet. Every generation thinks they understand the world and yet every new generation (or about every 2 decades) miraculous breakthroughs are seen in multiple fronts that renegotiate what we understand and what we think. Global warming was an attempt by people to comprehensively understand why urbanized areas appeared ot be getting hotter every year by like what..? 0.4º? Whooptyyyyyyy do. THe problem with global warming is it puts 100% emphasis on carbon footprints, cars, power plants anything that produces CO2 and takes 100% blame away from the massive overpopulation that is being done worldwide because we suddenly realized how to make people live longer. You talk climate change to people they talk electric/hydrogen cars. Many people in the US bought a prius to help make a difference, when in fact making that prius did and will do more "damage" than running a normal car for probably 20 years. couple thousand years ago maybe more the entire middle east was this vast rain forest lush with vegeation and running water, now its drier than a mother F*CKER.
Shit happens with weather, you have 0 control over it, Get over it.

By the way, citing wikipedia for any type of knowledgeable debate makes you auto fail. ♥ you omega but LAWL

while i don't agree that every aspect of "climate change" is false, the big push for change was being made by lobbyists with agendas. and yes a lot of bullshit was created. this is the same thing that happens with petroleum companies fighting against regulations for the millions of gallons of oil they discharge to the ocean and environment every year. i deal with this kind of shit every day for work, and i see A LOT of politics that happen behind the scenes. people will manipulate anything and everything for their own personal gain.

the truth is, yes, we are polluting the shit out of our environment in many different ways. from the occasional cup or wrapper tossed out the car window to industrial wastes generated during production of electronics, cars, and other products. personally, i think the biggest factor that influences these issues is the lack of education and intelligence of the general population. most people don't care because they don't understand it or it isn't convenient for them to understand and change the way they live. until people realize the consequences of their actions, they will fail to realize they are part of the problem and the solution can be fairly simple.

there is a balance point that we can find. we don't need to say "OMG stop driving cars!" and drastically change the way we live. we just need to realize there are better ways of dealing with our wastes.

Yes, that is also cost efficient.

Just wanted to throw this in the mix -- http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blog ... octor.aspx

Wikipedia is a great resource for politically neutral topics and many politically fueled topics, but on Climategate, it is a biased mess.

It really troubles me to hear one side of any issue resort to "well, the science is in" or "everyone agrees" when its clear that that is not the case at all. I completely agree with snuggle, when it comes to science, avoid media regurgitations.

The kind of odd thing about "global-warming" "climate change" is that many people become extremely passionate about it, almost to the point of inability to reason with them. To them, the science is settled (despite many warnings to the contrary, the number of which seem to increase daily) and anyone who doesn't blindly agree is not an actual skeptic but a "denier" pushing some agenda. I'm not sure how this comes about but its very interesting.

I think its pretty clear that Jones, Mann, et al, deviated from the way that scholars are expected to behave at the very least by exerting influence on editorial processes and conspiring to prevent the forced release of data through FOIA requests. It also looks like some of their data may have been massaged to the point of fabrication, but I'm still holding out on making that conclusion.

Also, I get very suspicious when the "inventor" of "global warming" Al Gore has a financial interest in the "solution" to the "problem" of "global warming": http://www.newsbusters.org/node/11149

Not sure where this essay is going other than to say that there's a lot of interesting information out there and its really not as cut and dry as the mainstream media would lead you to believe. I like to read things for myself.

lol, snuggle. I know what you mean, and yeah, Wikipedia used to be pretty bad. But with their citations and stuff nowadays, universities are accepting wikipedia references. Its not what it used to be.

And I'd have to say that I left out an important issue: overpopulation. That is probably the single greatest contributing factor to carbon footprints and pollution. So thank you for reminding me, Snuggle. Good point. I agree with you about the ridiculousness concerning this new hype about "global warming," but we all have to realize that we have never before in human history put more carbon and greenhouse gasses into the environment than ever before. We've also never burdened the Earth with so incredible a population before. SUSTAINABILITY is the key word here: we are using up more resources than are readily resuppliable... and that is statistical fact: my environmental biology textbook talk all about it Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_28

Purple, you nailed that post. Well said. I don't want to come off as alarmist or radical. I'm with purple on the general gist of climate change (besides the fact I feel the situation is a little more dire than some people perceive it to be). Some things are false, while the main issues like emissions, pollution, the lack of education within the populace on the issue and just plain ignorance resonate true. If we continue on this path, it may not be for another one or two millenia, but eventually we'll find our respective countries unsustainable for the population they harbor. Also, well said Fomenta.

Oh you read the thing about using tricks?

Obviously you didn't get past basic math. You're a F*CKING dumbass. They've been throwing out data since the 1960's because the tree-rings have stopped representing years, and how much growth occurs within those years. Because they're throwing out data that would F*CK your couch, and they don't know why it stopped being so reliable, as it could've been from the nuclear tests above ground (which also fucked my generation over, way to go baby booming faggots I hate you) or it could be from climate change, they have to rely on "tricks" to accurately depict the data.

Any person that's gone through basic math knows "tricks." Derivative tricks, integral tricks, and specifically graph tricks for this case.

Have some god damn common sense, F*CK. I hate how American society just F*CKING twists everything so that it fits what they believe.
