Your favorite local mom and pop shops So I was nursing my usual saturday hangover with some local food from a sub shop ran by a old Korean couple just down the road and got to wondering what kind of local "mom and pop" food joints you all enjoy. For those who don't know what a Garbage plate is, Listen one plate with half mac salad and half home fries...or french fries Add 2 cheese burgers or a combo of cheese burg and hot dog on top of mac salad and homefries then top it off with meat hot sauce and diced raw onion serve with sliced italian bread and a bottle of ketchup. For years they had 2 chicago-style hot dogs, complete with tomato slices, onion slices, pickle spear, and pickled jalapeno, a bag of the greasiest, crunchiest, fries you've ever had, and soft drink for $3. Right across the street from my place, they make EVERYTHING from scratch-- salsa, guac, chips, cut their own beef for steaks/burgers/enchiladas, etc. The owner is the closest thing we have to a mob boss on the mountain, and we get along great. I was driving by today and saw that they were under new management though.. so im going to check it out on the way home. I had a philly cheese steak from there once when we were buying property in CT before we moved here from Australia. Shit was awesome _________________
