Well guys, it’s official. There’ll be a new n00b in Texas. Infosys, after eons of delays have finally decided that I’ll be based in Irving Texas. Being a company with no soul and whatnot, I get 10 days, inclusive of weekends and holidays to move over to my new location. So I get from December 22nd until January 4th to move to Texas and find a lease on an apartment. I’ve managed to convince them that 10 days that encompass Christmas and New Years isn’t nearly enough days to get anything done, but in order to take any leave beyond the 10 days, I need to take un-paid leave.
So here’s the part I need some help with. I have no idea where the good places or the bad places to live are. I’m hoping that some of you guys either know where a good area to start looking for apartments or some trustworthy real estate agents who can help me with my search. What’s likely going to happen is that I’m going to stay a week or two in hotel while I get all the legal junk worked out. I’m looking for a 1 bedroom apartment with access to high speed internet that has supports either month to month leases or 3 month leases.

irving is right next to dallas. plenty of great spots around there. i don't know the area well, but i've traveled there a couple times for work. great to hear you're on your way back to the states, and good luck!

Let me see if I have any sort of hookups in that area. I'll post back here in a day or two.

On a side note, HR's delays on finalizing our travel dates may lead to some very serious problems as there are virtually no flights left coming back to the USA before Christmas.

Also, there WILL be a housewarming party, just need to get the house first

this clusterfuck called india just went from bad to worse for most of my friends. We JUST finished getting airplane tickets booked and we have less then 1 week before we leave and the forces of fate conspire to keep us here longer. 6 out of 7 of us are flying through London. As you might be aware of now, British Airway's flight crews are declaring a strike lasting from Dec 22nd to Jan 2nd. I'm lucky that I'm flying KLM through Amsterdam, but this royally fucks over everyone who's going through London. I think of the 6 people, 5 of them have flights on BA.
