I think he's looking for more personal opinion and possible one who ones a model or very close one, not a google input.

No direct exp. with it, but DPreview has been my source for the last 2 cameras I've bought, and it's been spot-on each time.

One thing I can tell you is that if treated right Nikon's last a long long time. I worked as a professional photographer for years and there is a reason why Nikon is the number one choice for pro's. You can get help with your Nikon anywhere in the world and they have one of largest selection of accessories of any manufacturer. I still have my Nikon from college and it works just as good as today then it did when I bought it in highschool back in the 80's and it still looks new even though I used it a lot. Yes you pay more for the name but it's worth it for the quality. If you are just getting something to take vacation photos the D3000 is perfect it's a good beginners camera like the reviews said but if you do plan on going more indepth you might want to look at higher models for more options.

yes i was looking for a personal opinion and maybe someone who owns one. My price range? well im open to options, dont wanna spend $3000 but dont want a pile of shit either. My friend has a D40 and I like the pictures and i like the comfort of the camera. I dont plan on goin PRO but i have noticed that most of the time....people's pictures at events come out better than the PRO's...like wedding photos for example, the ones from friends and family came out better than the one's i paid $1500 for. I'm just sayin

Most wedding photographers are morons who think they are good at photography but never went to school for it. I actually went to school for it but hated the industry, you can only see one too many subpar photographers get work over you cause they kiss better ass, lol. The one thing I have learned in photography is that is not the equipement that makes a good picture but the artist who wields it. I have used a lot of equipement over the years and I all I can say is you can't go wrong with Nikon (you can go wrong with Minolta, my god they make a fragile shit camera).

I prefer Canon, but whatever. It's mainly because it feels better in my hands. Both brands turn out the same pictures either way.

I'll shoot anything that has enough 3rd party lens&flash support. F*CK paying 300+bux for a canon branded zoom lens.

That's Nikon! The most accessories with 3rd party manufacturers of any camera brand in the world.

yeah, i have a cannon rebel xti. love it. the quality is pretty much the same between the two. i think cannon allows more compatibility with different brand lenses and such, which could lower your costs over time.
