GSPs will not like the news today. MW2 for pc will not have dedicated servers.

The CoD Community will be completely different post MW2. Things have changed a great deal. We will need to embrace change in the future.

UPDATE:

So after listening to the webcast these are some of the points brought up by the hosts of the webcast about these changes:


IW has control of the game.
IWnet servers will host multiplayer.
DLC will be a charged item for PC.
No dedicated servers.
Semi-capable password servers.
Semi-capable ad-hoc servers.
Competitive play is dead.
MW2 mods would not be possible.
Full integration into Steam.
PC has been turned into console.
Will Treyarch pick up the dedicated server side?

What does this mean to everyone? What will Treyarch do? Do you think CoD for PC is dead? What does this mean for CoDTV as all versions still have it?

There will be private matches possible, but no type of promod.
It will make servers and games uniform across the board setup and rule-wise.
How many players on a server is unconfirmed.

NO DEDICATED SERVERS?!?!?!?!?!?! Now Im F*CKIN' PISSED. MW2 was going to be one of the ONLY GAMES made for pc that I WASN'T going to pirate simply for its online gameplay. I was gonna put the $60 down on the game but now that the pc is gonna be like the consoles for MW2, I'm very very let down. Looks like I'm gonna have to pirate that one, too.

I'm going to guess Private servers or possibly some shit like the Consoles do and have one nominated as Sever client and do it that way. Just complete retardation.

personally I F*CKING hate matchmaking, its absolute shit. I like dedicated servers so you can come in and play with regulars or just be on a server that you enjoy

I think infinity fucked themselves in the ass for doing this style of Multiplayer and they might've even caused a sales drop for people who haven't bought it yet. I might still buy it to check out matchmaking but, not wasting my money otherwise

the problem is their business model is all about consoles..... they care less about pc. they always wanted to be consoles only as stated in that interview they gave. personally fps games shouldnt even exist for anything other than pc. hopefully these morons dont start a trend with other companies like those morons at valve.

I think they're just looking at it from a profit standpoint. They're focusing on consoles rather than PC because most people that have consoles don't pirate games (not saying there isn't a big hacking community with the 360, I just think its smaller), while PC users have such a large pirating community.

I get it now, that's F*CKING so stupid and great way to ruin what looks to be an amazing game. I was even thinking of going more in debt just to buy a nice vid card to play this game but F*CK that now. I'll sign the petition, you never know they might realize what a dumb move they made whe the sales aren't what they expected from pc users.
