Post Windows 7 Release Party
YAY! Just ordered my company's first official copy of Windows 7 to put on our network. I'll be upgrading my home pc's within the next week probably.

I know there was already a thread about Windows 7, but since it was officially released today, I thought I would bring it back up.

Who uses it? Likes and dislikes?

When you get it, tell me how you like it. I was wondering if it was worth it to upgrade from XP to 7.. I also have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro and was wondering how it would compare..

I just found out I can get W7 from my University for 30$CAN. I have 2 roommates who can get it too, but they have laptops with Vista on it, so I will see if I can get their copies too. I would be willing to sell them to a n00b if anyone wants to buy it!

Post Re: Windows 7 Release Party
I've been using Windows 7 for a week or so and like it a lot better than vista. Haven't had a crash yet compared to at least 1 every one or two days with vista.

I was afraid that the upgrade would screw my computer up or be difficult. It took a couple hours but was easy and worked well. I'm impressed so far.

I got mine from some college promo. I'm liking it so far. But because I'm upgrading from Vista, just seems like a better Vista to me.

I've been using RC for months, and also snagged free Ultimate from the launch event (*the media they gave out was x32 bit only, you'll need x64 if you want to use your key for a 64 bit install). I have experience upgrading from Vista x64 to Win7 x64 RC, Win7 x64 RC to Ultimate x64, and also upgraded a netbook from XP to Win7 RC x32.

If you're on XP, and don't use your computer for anything risky (like porn, torrents, web-based flash games, etc), stick with XP. It's perfectly fine. Microsoft will drop support for it soon, which is why it's fine for low-risk users but not for the rest of us.

If you are on any other version of Windows, get it. You'll like it. It's stable, pretty, and stays out of your way most of the time.

Upgrading is no prob. From Vista it's way easy, but from others (including Win7 RC) you'll need to re-install programs, re-set settings, etc. Your files get moved to Windows.old folder on your C drive so you won't lose anything.
