Tornado's are not uncommon in Ontario, they just don't happen so close to the city of Toronto, they mostly happen in cottage country. I've seen 2 tornados while camping up north as a kid. One was far enough away not to be a threat but could be seen from where we were and the other ripped through the camp grounds we were staying at. Now that night was a wild ride! Not bad, 2 tornado's, an earthquake, a hurricane, and my work van hit by lightning while driving on the highway. All I need is a flood, tidal wave and a typhoon and I can yell natural disaster BINGO!
