It seems decent for college purposes. Wouldn't say that if it was for gaming.
Price?

its about 1400, and its decent for gaming, really the only laptop from hp that can handle games, should be able to handle L4D and COD4&5 accourding to youtube vids, my only problem is should i stick with 32bit or go for 64 seeing how there is a free upgrade to 4gigs of ram.

Can you get anything other than the:
TV & entertainment experience HP Integrated HDTV Hybrid Tuner ?
Seems it would be of little use on a laptop.
Also 7 lbs is pretty heavy for a laptop if you expect to be lugging it around (when you consider the weight of textbooks, etc.)
But, if you're not planning on lugging it around a lot or for long distances, it looks like a pretty solid machine.

I just meant that with all the digital distribution avenues out there (youtube, hulu, thepiratebay, etc, etc) TV tuner in general seems useless in general, and especially so in a laptop.
But if its free, hell, might get some use out of it.

The graphics card is the shit one they build into motherboards, there ok for day to day stuff but shit for gaming. You will have to play everything at the lowest settings for FPS.

Really, well all i would be playing on it is Halo2, old xp games like CSS, Half life, would like to play L4d, Red alert 3, WoW and Aion. U dont think that could run them at good settings. well the only other option is a 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M card, dont know how that would do with my current processore and ram.

You could probly play L4D possibly....WoW of course.
Red alert and most RTS's I think use alot of processing power or something cause I play Empire on about medium and the thing lags a good deal on main map...though empire is a hog.
and good luck with Aion..something tells me that'll be another crysis situation maybe...that thing looks F*CKING slick.

yea, Aion has the same specs as L4D tho so we idk about that, according to benchmark tests the 512mb card has 30+ for L4D on mediam to hight settings so idk.

 Re: New laptop
yea death iv been looking at those but i get pretty good discount from hp that makes the price range the same and i like hp. the only guesstion i have is about the sony laptops and would the hp scpecs i gave run L4D are 30-40 fps during the hords. also is it worth getting vista 64 for the extra ram even tho its harder to fine sofware for it.

 Re: New laptop
You would be ok with WoW if your settings were not set for long range detail or you will lag like shit. Aion will be the same since it's a MMO aswell and I know the company that makes that game and they use the same shitty game engine over and over. It looks pretty but I think it runs like shit for a MMO, to this day DAOC was the the best engine but a shame the company fucked it up content wise. Laptops are not meant to be gaming machines, just make sure you get the best machine for you need it for the most and that's school, don't spend wasteful money just so you can try and play games on it. It would be cheaper to buy a inexpensive laptop for school and build a cheap desktop for game play.
