Post Buying 5.1/7.1 headset
I'm considering buying a 5.1/7.1 headset to replace my ultra crappy old speakers. There're only 2 objectives: positional audio for counterstrike, and watching bluray movies on my ps3.

Here are the ones I'm considering. Any opinions/advice? Does anyone have any experience with one of these?

Logitech G35 7.1

Razer Megalodon 7.1

Zalman 5.1

Triton AX Pro

Medusa NX 5.1

Psyko Audio 5.1

I can't get surround sound speakers because of the tiny apartment and I play games and watch movies at night.

I'd go with the Medusas. Only surround sound headset I haven't had issues with.

I had Triton's that broke quick and the Razers have shitty microphones that don't work or are very low and full of static.

O you can just buy a good sound card that makes a regular headset into surround sound.

Medusa. The best out there, do not use the usb, use the audio jacks and make sure youve got a true 5.1+ sound card. You wont regret it, ive had mine for a LOOOONG as time.

lol, those the ones that we alll bought together? I would still have mine if my dogs didnt chew on the cord.

I have sennheissers which work great and overall have amazing sound. My pair is listed as gaming headphones but I just don't hear everything as well positionally, as I did with my medusas or my plantronics.

I have a xtreme gamer x-fi and use a regular set of headphones (sennheiser hd555) and I dont plug my headset into the x-fi, it sounds like shit and I can't config it for the life of me. My onboard soundcard works freaking awesomely, gives the whole surround beautifully

I'm on the market for a nice gaming headset as well. I wouldn't mind dropping a nice amount on one as long as its great quality.

I've been eyeing the Megalodon but i'm going to wait for it to come out and check the reviews.

I've heard only good things about the Medusa headset and that's what I'm learning towards, but I'm curious about the Psyko Audio one. They make some pretty bold claims, and the few people who got to test it claim that it's the best on the market. Since it costs 3 times more than Medusa, I wonder if it's really worth it.

I ultimately went with the Triton Ax pro, because I can use it with the ps3 as well, unlike the medusa. The built in DD decoder is cool.

It gave me some problems with Counterstrike. Whenever I shoot, the sound would echo so one shot would sound like 3-5 shots and it was completely distracting my gameplay. So I decided to use it exclusively with the ps3.

On the ps3, I was blown away by the sound quality while playing Metal Gear 4 :) Same with playing blu-rays. The amount of wires and 2 power adapters are too much, but the sound quality makes up for it.

i have the SB x-fi fatality sound card with $35 sound isolating ear buds from brookstone. i can hear people from pretty far away, as long as fags aren't spamming their mic's.

The name and the cover on it they say that it blocks out static or something like that.

yeah, i don't really know the difference. someone please correct me if i'm wrong; i think they made fatality x-fi first. i'm not sure if they still sponsor that fatality guy or not, so maybe that's why they now make the "regular" x-fi?

From what I know it is a glorified version of regular x-fi, and some versions come with a remote and front mountable console with a lot of inputs. Then there''s the fatality pro, fatality champion etc. to make things even more confusing.

This card is better then the fatality one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6829156010 . Also jfobp the xtreme gamer doesn't have a x-fi chip on the card only x-ram that's why its so cheep. Its also the only company that is allowed to use the x-fi chip and ram. Just with out all the extra shit in there drivers that most people don't use.
