Ok so it's been like almost 2 F*CKING weeks of me not being able to play a solid fun round on n00bfest server
cause my I have a average choke of 90! So i get auto kicked for dling porn. My left 4 dead and Team Fortress 2 also have the same problems basically steam I have tried uninstalling reinstalling steam. I have nothing running in the back round. I am able to run COD4 with no problems at all (game sucks it's to easy) and GTA4. WTF IS WRONG PLZZ HELP!

Are you just getting choke on the n00bfest server? Have you tried lowering your cl_updaterate incrementally to see if that helps?

If your getting autokicked is it a ping issue?

If you're using a router, reset it. Otherwise, you may need to call your ISP and ask them to reset stuff on their end. We've had that problem before and a quick reset is all that was needed.

Or, you could have a virus or some malware/spyware that's bogging down your system.

What should I change my cl_updaterate to? And I'm Gonna try and screw around with my router reset it and change some configs. And ask my brother if he has any lag problems thx for the help guys

Yeah steam isn't the issue. Most likely it's your config.

on the cl_updaterate maybe start with 100 then drop each time by ten till the choke goes away or lessens.

rate 45000
cl_cmdrate 101
cl_updaterate 101

then I bind ] to cl_interp_ratio 1

bind ] "cl_interp_ratio 1"

what does the interp_ratio command control? i haven't heard of it, though i always change my rates depending on servers. never heard of that command though.

Basically it's the ratio your client uses in relation to the interpolation value the server has set.

If the server is at .01 and your interp ratio is at 2, your interp will be .02. .01 : 1 = .01. Et cetera.

My client always seems to reset to 2 so I have a bind and unfortunately the n00bfest server is at .37 or something like that.

I know that your real bind is "ma_ban", tehe.
